My grandson is 9 and likes the diary of a wimpy kid books but I'm not sure of this parody book. Kay I know this is a year late answer but just in case someone else is wondering lol I think it depends on what content you allow your child to read. P …more I know this is a year late answer but just in case someone else is wondering lol Personally, if I had a child, a book like this wouldn't bother them by the age of 9. I'm a huge horror fan and like my mother, I intend to raise my children the same. I digress. The book does include horror imagery but there's no nudity, no swearing that I rememberand the tone is mostly comical throughout. I hope my info helps any future parents seeking advice. I got this for the parody on Diary if a Wimpy Kid, a series, I love, but my favorite part of this book was the Twilight parody where Dedward keeps following her around and telling her they can't be together. I have vol. I'm happy I gave this a try Tales from the Crypt: Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid I think I got the tone of the series now. Something I found important considering I'm not rich nor into return books lol. The stories read like middle-grade texts but the language and art definitely were YA. I wasn't wowed by anything in the book but Tales from the Crypt: Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid co Tales from the Crypt 8: Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid was another random read I found while getting lost in the library. I wasn't wowed by anything in the book but wasn't completely put off by anything either. Will I buy vol. Probably not. Will I look for other volumes at my local branch? It really depends on my mood given the fact that I could've done without this installment. Additional Notes: TW for body horror Nov 27, Kaitlyn rated it liked it. This was perhaps the silliest thing I've read all year. You won't find brilliance here, but it's a decent attempt at parody for kids. Not gonna lie: I strongly prefer the dead version of the Wimpy Kid. Good It was funny like mad magazine I would read over and over again. Cant wait for part 2. The end. Jul 01, Kranna rated it it was ok. I was really hoping this graphic novel would be funny but it was kind of boring. Sep 30, Maggie rated it it was ok Shelves: library-booksgraphic-comic. The Twilight parody was funny at the beginning. Jan 14, Amanda Harrison rated it liked it Shelves: middle-gradeszombiesgraphic- novelparodyhumorous. I received this book for free through a grant and was curious about what age level it would be appropriate for. I would put this in a middle school library, but I don't think it would be appropriate for elementary school. Too many pictures of severed Tales from the Crypt: Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid and blood and honestly a lot of the funny romance references from DieLite the Twilight parody would be over an elementary kids understanding. Like all parodies, this one is often only really funny if you are familiar with the original. The s I received this book for free through a grant and was curious about what age level it would be appropriate for. The storylines I understood were entertaining, but a few of the sequences fell flat. This book is divided into several bite-size sections that do not follow any sort of story arc. Honestly, this parody could have been a lot better, funnier, and more biting if it had followed some sort of beginning, middle, and end sequence. The first story, Diary of Stinky Dead kid was easily the best and would probably appeal to middle grade readers. Certainly, not a must-have for any library, but will draw in reluctant readers. I'm not going to go into too much detail here, but I think this book would have been much better if there would have been more about what was actually listed as the title of the book. I was really looking forward to reading about the stinky dead kid, but there wasn't much to read about this whole thing. There were two other color comics included in the book which equaled or surpassed the amount of stinky dead kid material, so I was a bit miffed that I purchased the book. The Dielite comic was hu I'm not going to go into too much detail here, but I think this book would have been much better if there would have been more about what was actually listed as the title of the book. The Dielite Tales from the Crypt: Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid was humorous, but the second comic was pretty lame. I just wish Tales from the Crypt: Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid would not have spent the money on this book. This was a Halloween purchase - I love this time of year, I always try to get some new Halloween material every year Aug 19, Joshua Gessner rated it it was ok.
