Prior to joining LCS she worked in various public schools throughout the Capital District. She received her Bachelor's in American Studies and English from Siena College and her Master's in Education from Western Governors’ University. She is dually certified in Childhood Education and Special Education. When she is not in the classroom Laura enjoys providing new experiences for her Girl Scout troop or spending time outside in the Adirondacks. Miss Heather Crosbie graduated from in 2001 with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. She has been teaching for 19 years and loves seeing children grasp a love of learning. Outside of school and teaching, she has spent many years working at both winter and summer camps in New Hampshire. Mrs. Jessie Brustle serves as the Health and Physical Education Department Head at Loudonville Christian School and is in her 4th year of teaching. She has also been the varsity volleyball coach and varsity softball coach at LCS for the last five years. Before working at LCS Jessie received her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from where she played on the volleyball and softball teams. Most recently, she completed her Master of Science in Education degree from SUNY Cortland. Jessie loves athletics, physical activity and the opportunity to help instill that love in students.

The Faces of Summer Have you ever heard of PAREIDOLIA? It’s a phenomenon of seeing faces in everyday objects. Come experience the joy in finding faces everywhere! Students will enjoy exploring 3 different mediums to create one-of-a-kind works of art. We’ll be working with air-dry clay that students will mix themselves to create platters in relief, then move on to a Pop Art mobile, and round out the week creating faces from found objects in nature. Students will have an opportunity to show their work in an Art Show at the end of the summer. This is a fun way to try out multiple art mediums and to think differently about what they see every day. Teacher: Gina Kulpa Grades: Entering grades 7-12th (limit 12 students) Ms. Gina Kulpa is a lifelong artist with a passion for 2 things, our Creator and creating art. Completing her 1st year teaching Fine Arts to Middle School students at LCS, she has come “late in life” to teaching and feels very strongly that God has called her to be right where she is, doing what she does. Gina has a long history of expressing her artistic passions. She has formerly owned a successful interior decorating business as well as an art studio. Currently, she is the Founder and Director of the Fellowship of Christian Artists at LCC. The FCA has successfully hosted Paintable Praises, evenings of guided painting and worship through the Loudonville Community Church, as well as several art installations. STEM Camp STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Camp will involve both group and individual hands-on activities that will activate a child’s ability to problem solve. Each day we will learn about a profession that uses science, technology, engineering, or math to design something new. Mrs. Mandy Kergel teaches 3rd grade at LCS and has been involved in educating children for the last 17 years. A native to the Capital Region, Mrs. Kergel lives in Glenville with her husband, 3 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a very old fish. She grew up attending Schenectady Christian School (now Mekeel Christian), got her BS in Elementary Education at , and went on to receive her MS in Special Education: Inclusion at SUNY Albany. Mrs. Kergel loves to travel, and even taught in a remote village in Belize, Central America for 2 school years. She is passionate about STEM activities because they involve using the incredible brains that God gave us to create something new.

Photography 101 Is your camera attached to your hip? Do you love capturing moments in nature or with your friends? Do you desire to learn how to better use natural light to your advantage? In this week long camp students are introduced to digital photography for purposes of capturing higher quality, aesthetically pleasing images while fully understanding use of the exposure triangle and composition. Students will participate both in discussions and hands-on experience. Additional concepts will include lenses, memory cards, file formats, and editing software. Access to a DSLR camera is required. She is the Technology Department Head and teaches all Upper School Computer Science and Photography courses. Immediately after college she was employed as a computer lab assistant in a local school district and soon after promoted to the IT Department. She enjoys the outdoors, capturing memories for others, and spending time with her two boys. Basketball Camp Loudonville Christian School's basketball camp is for young athletes who want to learn the fundamentals of basketball, improve their basketball skills, and further their knowledge of the game. Crazy for Coding From loops and Legos®, to Scratch and Spheros, this week we will explore many coding concepts and programs. We will start the week creating our own sprites in Scratch and then use them to program a story. The end of our week will be full of robot coding fun! Reader's Theater Reading, Writing, Speaking, it will all happen this week! Campers will work in reading groups and become familiar with a variety of stories. They will then take the stories they read and hear and rewrite them in Reader’s Theater format! Students will present their drama at the end of the week. The goal is to inspire a love of reading while campers spend time digging into exciting books and then designing creative ways to communicate a great story. Teacher: Kristen Zaloom Grades: Entering grades K-6th Mrs. Kristen Zaloom is an integral part of our students' spiritual life. She teaches 8th grade Bible and helps to coordinate Worship Arts in the upper school, in addition to serving as a mentor and leader in our student affairs department. Originally, Kristin served as the 4th grade teacher at LCS from 2007-2015. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education and completed a Minor in Vocal Performance from Gordon College. Soccer Camp Come join our summer soccer camp! This camp's goal is to create an environment where your child will develop not only new soccer skills but practice teamwork and build community. Players will be exposed to creative soccer exercises and games that will enhance their technical ability. All skill levels are welcome. Can't wait to see you there! Cassidy graduated from LCS in 2014 playing both soccer and basketball throughout her high school career. She then attended Gordon College in 2018. While in college she continued her passion for sports by playing lacrosse. Cassidy believes being on a sports team creates an opportunity for students to grow deeper relationships with their peers and cultivate quality character and leadership skills. She is excited to be back at LCS! Mr. Blake Philippi has been the Boys' Varsity Soccer Coach at LCS for the past 5 years. He grew up playing soccer and basketball at Averill Park High School and briefly played soccer in college at the University of Valley Forge. Mr. Philippi believes that being a part of a sports team develops a strong work ethic as well as a unique community, both of which are his aim for his team each year. Students will dive into the amazing world of marine life while creating a variety of artwork using many different techniques. We will be learning all about the cool, fun, weird, and beautiful things found under the sea and use them as inspiration for our artwork. Two-dimensional, three-dimensional, large, small, individual, collaborative, we will cover it all! At the end of the week, we will perform multiple short acts the students have prepared throughout the week and share it with the parents. She grew up attending Loudonville Community Church and participated in many musical productions as a youth. Jamie received her Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance with a Minor in Tech Theater and Design from the Crane School of Music. She received her Master's in Theater from and is currently working on a second Master's in Music Ed from Ithaca College. Prior to coming to LCS, she taught band and theater at a small rural school. Did your child struggle in math this year? Do you worry they are not at their grade level in their math skills? This is an opportunity to get your child caught up before the new school year begins! Math Bootcamp will be a fun and engaging space for your child to fill in the missing pieces when it comes to pre-algebra and algebra foundations. Your student will encounter creative approaches and interactive learning experiences that will help boost their excitement for math! Teacher: Tricia Young Miss Tricia Young teaches seventh and eighth grade math as well as Algebra 1 and Integrated Algebra. She joined us from Spa Christian School in Ballston Spa where she taught a combined sixth and seventh grade class (all subjects). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education. A $50 deposit per child must be submitted by June 1st in order to complete the registration for SOAR. All registration costs must be paid in full one week prior to your scheduled camp. If you are not paid in full, your child will not be permitted to attend. DDiiissccoouunnttss One discount may be applied per family:

Multi Child Discount First child is full cost Each additional child is 5% off their camp week. In order for this discount to be applied, your children must be registered for the same week.

Multi Week Discount If you are registering a child for more than one week, you will receive a 5% discount on the total of those weeks if you have paid in full by June 1st. Registration: Register online at https://www.lcs.org/soar. Registration begins March 1st for all LCS families. The public is welcome to register on April 1st. All camps will run by the week. There is not an option for a single or choose your day. Your child may attend on select days; however, payment is due for the full week regardless of attendance. We are not currently offering an extended day program. In June, doors will open at 7:45 am and all campers must be picked up by 4:15 pm. In July/August, doors will open at 7:45 am and all campers must be picked up by 12:15 pm. All registration costs must be paid in full one week prior to your scheduled camp. If you are not paid in full, your child will not be permitted to attend. Cancellation Policy: If you choose to cancel registration prior to June 1, 2021, please submit a request in writing to [email protected]. You will receive a full refund of the cost minus a $50 cancellation fee. If registration is cancelled after June 1, 2021, you will receive a 50% refund of the program cost. If your child misses a day, you will not receive a refund for that day. If circumstances beyond our control exist and a camp is cancelled, you will be issued a full refund for that week. Program Limit: There is a 1:10 ratio of teacher/assistant to camper for most camps. All camps will have a lead teacher and 1-2 assistants based on registrations. Each program has a limit based on space and supplies. Average group size will be 20 students. Health & Safety: We will have a staff member licensed in First Aid and CPR on campus at all times. Snack and lunch are not provided. Please provide a daily snack, lunch (in June) and water bottle for your child. Please put sunscreen on your child prior to drop off. If you would like sunscreen reapplied please be sure to bring it with your child and list this in 'special accommodations' on the registration form. We will follow all COVID-19 protocols in accordance with the Albany County DOH of NYS that are in place during the time of our program. Discipline Policy: LCS reserves the right to dismiss any child whose behavior interferes with the rights or safety of others or the overall integrity of the program.
