MUNICH – VENICE Bicycle pleasure trip from the to the Adria

The new long distance bike route from Munich to Venice closes the gap between the Eastern Alps and connects the eastern German metropolis with the pearl of the Adriatic lagoon. Along this route you can find spectacular sceneries and beautiful places; it is the perfect route for those who want to enjoy the challenge on two wheels! This bike route crossing offers the chance to visit not only famous metropolis as Monaco, Innsbruck and Venice , but also smaller romantic cities as Bad Toelz , Schwaz , Bressanone and .

Tour schedule (approximately) – The tour day by day (about 500 km, 09 days / 08 night, individual trip)

Day 1 : Arrival in Monaco Indiviual arrival in Munich. Free visit of the Bavarian city, dinner and overnight in the hotel reserved.

Day 2 : Monaco - Bad Tolz ( about 60 km) Following the river Isar, people leave Munich, finding themselves immediately immersed in the surrounding untouched nature. The river goes along the route in a south direction. Soon people reach Bad Tolz, mostly known as the location of touristic resorts and spas. The old town has as its heart the Marktstraße , one of the most beautiful and charming Bavarian street with a long succession of houses decorated by colorful frescoes. Not to be missed are, also, the late Gothic parish church dating the fifteenth century (Stadtpfarrkirche ), the mill church ( Mühlfeldkirche ) and the ancient furnaces. Overnight in Bad Tolz.

Day 3: Bad Tolz - Jenbach (about 70 km) This stage follows for its largest part the flow of the river Isar, which leads to the Achensee holiday region with the eponymous mountain lake, the largest in Tyrol. Possibility to make an lake tour by boat before heading to the Valley. At the end of the day, people reach Jenbach, a little town situated between the foothills of the Karwendel mountains and the Rofan mountains. Overnight in Jenbach.

Day 4: Jenbach - Innsbruck (about 40 km) From Jenbach, people ride along the river Inn, arriving in Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, with its famous "Golden Roof", the symbol of this beautiful town. Possibility to visit the historical center, with the elegant buildings decorated with colorful roofs that make the city delightful to look at both in summer and winter. Other interesting attractions are the "Bergisel", the Olympic ski jump located in Mount Isel and the "Berg- Isel-Museum" in the memory of the Mount Isel battle, fought under the command of the patriot freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. Day 5: Innsbruck - Bruneck / Brunico (transfer by train or by bus on the Brenner and about 75 km by bicycle) For the first section of this challenging stage from Innsbruck to the Brenner Pass, the border between Austria and , a transfer by train or by bus is required. From Brennero, following the old railway line passing through Sterzing people go to Fortess. From here the trip continues along the track path in direction of

Day 6: Bruneck / Brunico - Cortina d'Ampezzo (about 60 km) From Brunico people follow the path along the river Rienz until Dobbiaco, and then continue in the direction of Val di Landro, following the old railway. Today's stage lead travellers to beautiful places like Lake Toblach, the magic of the Tre Cime, the Landro Valley and the omonimous Lake, famous for its intense blue water. Following an extraordinary journey with lighted tunnels, people arrive in Cortina, know as the Queen the Dolomites. Overnight in Cortina.

Day 7: Cortina d'Ampezzo - Vittorio Veneto / Conegliano (about 95 to 105 km) Always in slightly downhill, having to the right the view of Mount Pelmo and to the left that of Sorapis firsr and Antelao’s then, people arrive in Pieve di Cadore, the birthplace of Titian. Through the Boite Valley, people cycle in the direction of Calalzo di Cadore. A transfer by train / bus to Longarone follows this first part of the stage. This city was rebuilt after the tragedy in 1963, when a landslide from Monte Toc fell into the reservoir of the Vajont dam, causing a wave to go over the dam and engulfe the villages below. From Longarone, people continue cycling until arriving in Vittorio Veneto, where there is the beautiful Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral, and Conegliano, the home of the Prosecco, one of the typical Italian wines. Day 8: Vittorio Veneto / Conegliano - Venice (mainland / Quarto d'Altino (about. 90-100 km) Leaving behind the Alps the route continues across the plain towards Treviso, the Italian city of art crossed by the river Sile, the longest resurgence one in Europe. Rich of art works, gastronomic traditions and natural oasis, the city offers its visitors many itineraries for tours and excursions. Continuing in direction of the Adriatic Sea, the route destination, the path runs along the river Sile to Venice (Mainland / Quarto d'Altino). From here, begins the free visit to the "Serenissima". Overnight in Venice.

Day 9: Venice (mainland / Quarto d'Altino) Individual departure or possibility to extend your stay.

Day 1 - From Castelfranco Veneto regional park of Fontanassi. Individual arrival at Treviso in the morning. Check into the hotel and start of the journey by bycicle. The route will follow this itinerary: Quinto di Treviso - Santa Cristina - Morgano - Sile river park - Castelfranco Veneto. For the return, we propose a different route from the previous one through: Salvarosa - Salvatronda - Albaredo - Sile river park - Morgano - Santa Cristina - Quinto di Treviso. What to see: The route will cross the Park of the River Sile, the longest resurgence river in Europe. The fontanassi apperae like little waterholes; but looking at them with a closer look you can actually see the bubbles of water that go back up the surface and, in a small space, give birth to the Sile. Another main character of this route is Castelfranco Veneto, city of art; home of acclaimed artists and men of science, it is especially known for being the birthplace of the painter Giorgione, enigmatic and mysterious artist of the Italian Renaissance. Here people can visit the birthplace of Giorgione with the famous frieze painted by the artist and the Duomo, where, in a lateral chapel, kept in its original destination, is the famous Pala di Castelfranco, one of the masterpieces of the master. Often bound to the role of Cinderella, is Villa Bolasco which was built in 1852 from a project of Giovanni Francesco Revedin Battista Meduna. The park, which the villa overlooks, allows visitors to have pleasant walks between undergrowth patches, water mirrors, trees, bridges and constructions of the past.

Day 2 - From Sile Sources to Andrea Palladio’s Villas After breakfast, start of the journey through: Quinto di Treviso – Sorgenti del Sile – Vedelago – Fanzolo For the way bak we propose this different route through Barcon - Fossalunga – Carpenedo - Cavasagra - Casacorba. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight in Quinto di Treviso

What to see: The route crosses the sources of the river Sile, in the natural park where the river originates. In Vedelago, people can make a brief stop at the remarkable Oratorio of San Mamante, a small and simple rural church of 1640, recently restored, where it is possible to find an altarpiece depicting the martyred saint painted by Domenico Santoro. The path is not challenging, so it is ideal for a quiet bike ride, arriving in Fanzolo where there is Villa Emo, one of the most beautiful Palladian villas, this one belonging to the Unesco heritage. The villa was commissioned by Leonardo Emo and it was designed by AndreaPalladio, the most important architect of the during the Renaissance. Inside the villa, you can find the finest frescos depicting mythological and rural painted by Giambattista Zelotti

Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight in Quinto di Treviso

What to see: The route leads from Quinto di Treviso to Treviso, leading to the city centre through Porta San Tommaso, the most majestic of the three doors that open on the century walls surrounding the historical center of Treviso . Along the way, people will cross Catena, the small town which is the birthplace of Giovanni Pinarello, famous cyclist and founder of the omonimous bycicles producer company in Treviso. The route destination is Nervesa della Battaglia, in Montello, famous for the Military Shrine, one of the many examples of military commemoration, where are collected the remains of the fallen Italian who died fighting the Great War.

Day 4 – The GiraSile After breakfast, start of the journey through: Quinto di Treviso - Ponte della Gobba – Porto di Fiera – cimitero dei Burci – Casier – Lughignano – Rivalta – Casale sul Sile. Way back through Casier, ansa del Sile morto e la via dei Tappo – centro di Treviso – Quinto di Treviso. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight in Quinto di Treviso.

What to see: The itinerary offers people the chance to travel the best-known cycle route of the Treviso area , the GiraSile, a ring of about 40 km linking Treviso with Casale sul Sile . The route allows cyclists to immerse themselves in an environment where the strong relationship between man and river developed during the centuries mixing together modernity and tradition. Emblematic place that particularly underlines this relationship is and the Burci Cemetry , in Casier , where it is possible to see this ancient boats emerging from the water after their owners sank them in protest against the rise of the new transportation means. Possibility to have lunch, along the way, in one of the restaurants overlooking the river, as well as relaxing in the areas reserved. Besides, for those who want to enjoy a nice experience, possibility to make a pleasant navigation along the river Sile.

The Treviso - Ostiglia

After breakfast departure by bike from the hotel. The route will follow this itinerary: Quinto di Treviso - Santa Cristina - Badoere - Levada - Silvelle - Piombino Dese - Loreggia - Camposampiero – Santa Giustina in Colle - San Giorgio of Pertiche - Campo San Martino - Curtarolo - Piazzola sul Brenta and return. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight in Quinto di Treviso.

What to see: The itinerary allows people to travel along the famous way Treviso-Ostiglia, a new bike lane built where previously had been the old statal railway that linked Ostiglia with Treviso. Realized because of strategic purposes and soon abandoned as it seemed to be unnecessary, it was mostly a benefit for the rich towns that, this way, could easily exchange their products. Along the path is still possible to see the old train station, which, albeit marked by Time are fully recongnizable. The itinerary proposed has as its destination Piazzola sul Brenta, famous for the artistic and cultural events that every year take place here, but also for the presence of Villa Contarini, one of the biggest villas in Veneto, decorated with the typically Baroque style.

What to see The itinerary allows people to ride along the typically rustic landscape of Treviso. In this particular context many Venetian villas are present and some of them can still be visited. In Campocroce people can fin the following villas: Villa Coletti, Rigamonti, Cortellazzo; in Preganziol there are Villa Franchetti Villa Palaces , Villa Condulmer; Mogliano Veneto hosts instead Villa Zoppolato, Villa Marcello and the more famous Villa Benetton known as the " Marignana " , a typical Venetian villa of the eighteenth century where, in the late twentieth century, lived the sculptor Toni Benetton who made it a place for culture and art.

From Montebelluna to Asolo, among the Colli Asolani

Along the way people can see interesting places, some of them which are still unknown by he maiority of tourists. In Altivole there is the Barco of Queen Cornaro, little, but very charming place. It was the summer residence of the Queen CaterinaCornaro; Here, the sovereign created his magnificent court composed of ladies, poets, intellectuals ... According to the tradition, it was in this small court that was created the Venetian patrician code to live in villa. In Casella d'Asolo, people canf find the beautiful Villa Rinaldi, one of the most spectacular Baroque architecture in the whole province of Treviso. Pagnano d'Asolo still conserves its Maglio, a water mill built in 1474; this type of construction is one of the symbols of Treviso and it is an important example of industrial architecture coming from the past. Last but not the least, is Villa Barbaro, in Maser, one of the most famous villa designed by Andrea Palladio, belonging to the UNESCO heritage. On the inside it is contained one of the finest frescoes set depicted by Paolo Veronese.

Tour among the castles of Marca Treviagiana

After breakfast departure by minibus from the hotel to Susegana, where the start of the ride will take place. Here the itinerary: Susegana – Collalto – Barbisano – Pieve di Soligo – Solighetto – Follina – – Lago - Vittorio Veneto – Conegliano - Susegana. Return to the hotel by minibus, dinner and overnight in Quinto di Treviso.

What to see: The route proposed below is addressed to people who are used to ride more challenging paths: the climbs along the route can be a daunting obstacle for those who are not trained enough. The first transfer to Susegana will be made by minibus; here people can find the beautiful and still inhabited Castle of San Salvatore and the ancient Castle of Collalto. In Follina, the Abbey of Santa Maria Assunta is surely worth visiting; there is also the chance to take a brief moment of rest in the beautiful cloister. A wonderful place to not miss to visit is Castelbrando, whose magical and poetic atmosphere strikes the visitors who arrive in Cison di Valmarino. Once arrived in Conegliano, people are captured by the typically medieval aspect that the center still conserves. The main touristic attractions of this town are the Castle and Contrada grande, the main street, offering a suggestive context in which people can walk and spend a nice afternoon.
