Mrs. Dottie M. Lewis ’65: Vice President for Finance

Dottie Milligan Lewis has been the Vice President for Finance since January 2018, until mid-May her position was as the Interim Vice President. She has maintained close ties to Hartwick since her graduation from the College in 1965. She earned a BA in Sociology. She began her career in Education teaching English and Math with the Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa.

Dottie began her career in Education teaching with the Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa. Upon returning to the United States, she held a variety of positions in Finance and Administration at Harvard University over a period of twenty years, the last one serving as Assistant Dean for Finance at the School of Arts and Sciences. While working at Harvard she earned both a Masters and Doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Administration, Planning and Social Policy.

After leaving Harvard, Dottie held a variety of positions in both public and private colleges and universities including: Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at the University of Colorado at Denver. Dottie has also held academic and administrative positions at several international branch campuses of U.S. universities, including serving as CFO for Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar and as Campus Dean for the Institute of Technology in Bahrain. She has also served in interim positions as a member of the Registry of College and University Presidents and Senior Administrators, most recently as Chief Financial Officer at Corning Community College and Interim Dean of International Education at .

Dottie was a member of the Alumni Board of Directors from 1990-2003, serving as Vice President from 1993-1995 and President from 1995-1997. She received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in September 1998. She also served as a member of the Hartwick College Board of Trustees from July 2015 through December 2017.
