NTPC to build India’s biggest solar park in Gujarat
India’s NTPC Ltd. plans to set up a 5 gigawatt
solar park in the western state of Gujarat, which
would be the biggest in the country, as the top
electricity generator shifts toward cleaner energy.
A site has been identified for the project, which is
expected to cost as much as 250 billion rupees
($3.5 billion) and begin operations by 2024. The plan is part of the NTPC’s aim to build 32
gigawatts of renewable capacity by 2032 and reduce the share of fossil fuels in its energy mix to
70% from about 96% now.
Amit Shah launches Emergency Response Support System (ERSS- Dial 112), ‘E- Beat Book’ System and ‘E-Saathi’ App

Shah launched three citizen centric services of
the Chandigarh Police, in Chandigarh today.
The services include the Emergency Response
Support System (ERSS - Dial 112), ‘E-Beat Book’
System and the ‘E-Saathi App’.
ERSS is one of the key projects of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs under Nirbhaya Fund.
ERSS provides a single emergency number (112), computer aided dispatch of field resources to

and through the 112 India mobile app.
The ‘E-Beat Book’ is a web and mobile based application which will ease the collection,
updation and analysis of the information related to crime and criminals in a real time.
The ‘E-Saathi’ App would help the general public, including senior citizens, to remain in touch
with the police and also give suggestions to facilitate participative community policing(‘Your
Police at Your Doorstep’ initiative).
Bank of Baroda launches agri digital platform
Bank of Baroda launched its agri digital platform
“Baroda Kisan”. The platform can also be
accessed on mobiles by farmers. The web-based
portal will cater to all the needs of farmers,
including weather forecasts, crop conditions, the
moisture levels of the soil, information on crop
worms, market prices, special crop-related consultation.
HDFC Bank to organise 1,000 grameen loan melas in next 6 months
HDFC Bank plans to organize 1,000 grameen loan
melas over the next six months in a bid to expand its
retail portfolio. These grameen loan melas (or village
loan fairs) will be held across more than 300 districts
and cover around 6,000 villages across India.
Customers can avail of tractor, auto, two-wheeler
and agri loans or open current or savings accounts.

Madhukar Kamath elected chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulations
Madhukar Kamath, chairman emeritus of DDB
Mudra group and mentor of Interbrand India, has
been elected chairman of the Audit Bureau of
Circulations (ABC) for 2019-20. Kamath has also been
the president of Advertising Agencies Association of
India.
Royal Bank of Scotland picks Alison Rose as its first woman CEO
Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc promoted Alison
Rose to chief executive officer, making her the first
woman to run one of Britain’s big four lenders. Rose,
the former head of British commercial and private
banking at RBS, was seen as being groomed for the
role for years. She takes over on November 1.

Amit Panghal won silver in World Boxing Championships
Ace Indian boxer Amit Panghal settled for silver at
the AIBA Men's World Boxing Championships at
Ekaterinburg in Russia. He lost to Shakhobidin
Zoirov of Uzbekistan Zoirov in flyweight (48-52 kg)
category, by a unanimous decision from the judges.
Amit Panghal created history as he became the first
Indian male boxer to win the silver in the Championships. India’s Manish Kaushik defeated top
seed Andy Cruz Gomez from Cuba in the 63 kg category and secured bronze medal.
Bajrang Punia, Ravi Dahiya win bronze at World Championships
In Wrestling, Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya have
won bronze at the World Championships in Nur-
Sultan, Kazakhstan. This is Bajrang's second
consecutive medal at the Worlds and third overall
while Dahiya has managed to win bronze in his very
first appearance at the senior championships.
Bajrang defeated Mongolian Tulga Tumur Ochir to
win in a thrilling bronze medal bout while Dahiya beat Iran's reigning Asian champion Reza to
win his maiden Worlds medal. Both Bajrang and Dahiya had sealed a spot at the 2020 Tokyo
Olympics by qualifying for the bronze medal round.

Deepak Punia bows out of World Wrestling Championship title clash, settles for silver
In world wrestling championship, India's Deepak
Punia pulled out of the title clash in 86 kg
category against Iran's Hassan Yazdani due to an
ankle injury sustained during the semifinal bout.
The 20-year-old Indian will have to be content
with a silver medal in his debut senior world
championship.
Rahul Aware wins bronze in 61 kg free-style category at World C’ship
Indian wrestler Rahul Aware has won a bronze
medal in men's 61 kilogram free-style category
at the World Championship in Nur-Sultan,
Kazakhstan. Rahul beat 17th seeded American
Tyler Lee Graff 11-4 to ensure he finished on
the podium.

Carolina Marin Beats Tai Tzu Ying in Final to Win China Open
Carolina Marin won the China Open, beating Tai Tzu
Ying in a keenly-contested final in Changzhou.
Spain's Marin, who is returning to the court after
eight months following knee surgery in January, beat
the Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying 14-21, 21-17, 21-18
in a 1 hour and 5-minute encounter.
Kento Momota won the China Open 2019
World No. 1 Kento Momota of Japan strove 87
minutes to eliminate China's Olympic champion
Chen Long and reach the men's singles final of
the 2019 Badminton China Open. Momota
dominated the game from the beginning of the
first set and took the lead 19-15. The Japanese
then fought back to win a tight second set 21-18 and take the third 21-16.

Gully Boy is India’s entry for Oscars
Bollywood film, Gully Boy was selected as
India'sofficial entry in the International Feature
Film category at the Oscars. The film is
directed by Zoya Akhtar and stars
RanveerSingh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
Gully Boy is a coming-of-age drama centred
around the life of a spiring rapper Murad, portrayed by Ranveer. The film was inspired by the
real-life stories of Mumbai Rappers Divine and Naezy.

Former cricketer Madhav Apte passes away
India Test opener for seven Test matches in the early
1950s Madhav Apte passed away at the Breach Candy
Hospital. He was 86. Apte scored 542 runs, that
included an unbeaten 163 against the likes of Frank
King, Gerry Gomez, Frank Worrell, Alf Valentine and
Sonny Ramadin in the Queens Park Oval Test of 1953.
He played 67 first class matches scored 3336 runs, with
six centuries and 16 half centuries. Apte was for many years the President of the Cricket Club of
India and and the Legends Club.
