Harrison Newey Signs to Van Amersfoort Racing for Debut Fia European F3 Season in 2016 News Release 13th January 2016 HARRISON NEWEY SIGNS TO VAN AMERSFOORT RACING FOR DEBUT FIA EUROPEAN F3 SEASON IN 2016 Britain’s Harrison Newey will graduate to the FIA Formula Three Championship this year after confirming a seat at the renowned Van Amersfoort Racing team (VAR). The 17-year old driver enjoyed a successful 2015 season, finishing runner-up in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship with two wins and twelve further podium positions. Following several successful test sessions late last season Newey is all set to undertake his first full season in the FIA European Formula Three Championship with the Dutch team. Newey will compete in a Mercedes powered Dallara, partnering Pedro Piquet and Callum IIott; the drivers so far confirmed at VAR. Newey continues his progress up the single-seater ranks in 2016 after impressing during his full single-season debut year in 2015.Allied to success in the UK, Newey also contested several German F4 races – with VAR, where he gained valuable experience racing against some of Europe’s best young drivers. The winter months saw more track time for Newey as he competed in the MRF Series throughout the Middle East and Asia. The new challenge of competing in the FIA European Formula Three Championship will see Newey go wheel-to-wheel against the cream of young racing talent. The series attracts widespread media coverage with races shown across the globe on Eurosport, ESPN, Motors TV, BT Sport and many other prominent channels. F3 Testing will continue at the beginning of March before the season begins at Paul Ricard in the South of France on April 1-3. The two championships, which represent important and challenging transitions in the FIA ideal route from karting to Formula 1, come back in Italy after a great show on European tracks. Drivers and teams are determined to start at best this last two months of races before the final winners will be crowned.     28 June, 2019 Armstrong the early leader in Spielberg PREMA remain on top in Round 3 Free Practice Marcus Armstrong came out on top in today’s FIA Formula 3 Free Practice, which sprung to life in the final few minutes at the Red Bull Ring. The PREMA man set a laptime of 1:19.396 to lead Trident’s Pedro Piquet and the much improved Christian Lundgaard of ART Grand Prix. Niko Kari was first out on track in the stunning Spielberg scenery as the cars got used to a warm early morning in Austria. Jüri Vips set the bar at 1:22.686, but was quickly usurped by the ART machine of David Beckmann, with the team looking to bounce back after a sorry French weekend. Championship leaders PREMA resisted the temptation to hit the track straight away and remained in the pits for the first ten minutes of the session. When their trio of drivers finally departed, they wasted no time in taking their customary place at the top of the standings, in the order of Robert Shwartzman, Jehan Daruvala and Marcus Armstrong. Jenzer debutant Giorgio Carrara was impressing in his maiden F3 outing and made a surprise leap from 13th to 3rd with 10 minutes to go, despite his lack of experience in the machinery. He later dropped down the order at the hands of PREMA, before falling further and finishing in 24th. Jake Hughes had shown impressive pace in Le Castellet last week and was looking to continue this form as he broke up the all PREMA front three to sit second behind Shwartzman.
