I would like to extend my felicitations to the Stud Book Authority of the Philippines (SBAP) for reaching yet another monumental feat by coming up with another new book aimed to improve the horse racing and breeding industries. In behalf of the Philippine Racing Commission (PHILRACOM) Board of Commissioners, I would like to acknowledge SBAP’s significant contribution to facilitate the growth of the industry by providing pertinent insights on how to improve the breed of local horses. Our formidable alliance with SBAP has paved way for various changes which formed basis for the industry’s continuous evolution, and thus provides a strategy for growth, integrity, and accountability. In apropos, we would like to thank everyone who helped put this material together. May you continue to work with us in achieving our long-term goals to improve the racehorse breeding industry! ANDREW A. SANCHEZ Chairman HON. DANTE M. LANTIN HON. AURELIO P. DE LEON Commissioner Commissioner HON. LYNDON NOEL B. GUCE HON. VICTOR V. TANTOCO Commissioner Commissioner HON. DENNIS C. LAOGAN Commissioner 1 MESSAGE The Stud Book Authority of the Philippines (SBAP), in line with the Equine industry’s fervent endeavor to maintain records of the purity of the breed of horses, is proud to present the seventh volume of the Philippine Stud Book (PSB). The concerted effort from everyone in the horse racing and breeding industries has signifi- cantly contributed to the publication of this book, which captures the fervor of the people at SBAP to document the pedigrees and bloodlines of currently registered thoroughbred horses in the country. We are therefore hoping that this momentous publication will gain a confidence boost from the horse breeders in whose interests this book is published and dedicated. We are looking forward to working with you in our future endeavors anchored in finding ways on how technology can be applied to benefit the breed and its management. To everyone in the SBAP, my heartfelt congratulations and more power! Andrew M. Buencamino, DVM Executive Director Philippine Racing Commission 2 MESSAGE The Stud Book Authority of the Philippines (SBAP), in celebration of its 24th year of recogni- tion by the International Stud Book Committees (ISBC), continued its main objective in main- taining the purity of the Thoroughbred line recorded in each book. This significant year coincides with the consolidation and publication of the Philippine Stud Book Volume 7 which was targeted to be released in early part of CY2020. Amidst the Co- rona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic, we continued to pursue this task and are pleased to pre- sent in this volume the produce of broodmares covering the years from 2015 to 2018. The broodmares returned has a decreasing trend from 1,243 in 2015, 1,151 in 2016, 1,022 in 2017 to 805 in 2018. However the average productive returns is still about 50% of the broodmare population in each year. Importation of mares varied with the continuous utili- zation of retired Thoroughbred racehorses attesting that the horse racing and breeding in- dustries are now continually in cycle using the best resources locally available. This is at- tested in the data under Sires of Mares with local bred broodmares which were former racehorses retired from racing. Collaboration with the International Stud Book Committee (ISBC) through the assistance of its regional counterpart, the Asian and Oceanian Stud Book Committee (AOSBC) has sus- tained the Philippines signatory to the significant articles of the International Agreement on Breeding Racing and Wagering (IABRW). This made us nearer in achieving our goals to take part both in the international horse racing and breeding industries. We continue to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all horse owners and breeders who con- stantly supported the industry and in supplying the information contained in this volume. To the staff of the Stud Book Authority of the Philippines and the Philippine Racing Commis- sion, we salute your unending and diligent efforts in making this achievement possible. Romeo F.
