CIS Nomination Guidelines - General

1. CIS does not accept Late Nominations. 2. Nominations will only be accepted online from NSWCISSC Member Schools or Member Associations 3. Once a student or teacher has been registered with CIS any subsequent sport nomination will be a renewal rather than a registration. 4. As a nominating teacher or association please ensure the students name, and date of birth have been entered correctly and the Parent/Guardian email is correct and frequently used. The system will send an email to the parent to enable them to complete the registration /renewal process. 5. A sport nomination fee of $25.03 will be charged for all sports in 2019 with the exception of triathlon. The per nomination fee will be charged via the Sports Association and school, at the end of each term.

Parent / Guardians please note: If your son/daughter has been nominated to attend a CIS trial you will receive an email with a link enabling you to complete the registration process or in the case of a student that has already registered to the system, a renewal in another sport.

If you have not received an email and you believe your son/daughter should have been nominated, please take the following steps prior to the close of nominations.

i) Check your junk email. ii) Contact the Head of Sport at your son/daughter’s school

This should be done prior to nominations closing. Failure to amend/complete your son/daughter’s details by Close of Nominations may result in them not being permitted to trial. CIS DOES NOT ACCEPT LATE NOMINATIONS.

The Main Change To find information on a particular trial go to EVENTS. Click on the sport you are interested in and hit SEARCH. You will then get all the events for that sport. A lot easier to deal with than the entire calendar. If you click on INFO next to the event you will get all the information you require about the sport

Handbook We are in the process of updating the Handbook, however this may take time.

Nominating Students for CIS events Teachers that wish to nominate students will need to register first. Go to the sports page and follow the instructions or go to Support Guides and look under the heading: Student Nomination/Registration. Alternatively this nomination summary put together by David Martin may be useful click HERE

Nomination Procedure – Please make sure you have read the nomination information before placing a nomination. In many team-based sports the student will need to make an association team to be eligible to trial. If a student is nominated as an individual in an association team-based trial, they will not be considered for CIS team selection. They must be listed in the Association team to participate at the trial/championship.

Checking your nominations have been received Association Delegates can see nominations for all sports, convenors can see nominations within their sport.

At this stage the easiest way to know that the nomination was received is if the parent has received the email. If you nominated and they don’t receive the email, we either have not received it or the parent email was incorrect. When seeking permission for the student to go to the trial let the parent know to expect the email and contact you if they don’t get it. Ask them to check their junk email, just in case.

We are looking to make it easier for both teachers and parents to know that nominations have been received.

TIPS for Nominations Once you are using the link that was sent to you by email, you are nominating the student. Everything you enter form this point will be about the student. When registering the student please do not put in the student’s email. The parent’s email should be put in the email address field that is asterisked and must be entered twice.

Renewing Don’t forget that as a teacher once you have registered to the site through any sport, the next time you go to another sport to nominate students you will need to renew rather than register. The same goes for students, once they have been registered and you wish to nominate them in another sport you hit renew.

2019 CIS SPORT CONVENORS URGENTLY REQUIRED At this stage we do not have CIS Convenors for the following sports in 2019:

Primary Sports Boys Cricket Boys Softball Girls Softball

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in a sport to become involved in CIS, promoting a pathway for students from independent schools, whilst taking on new challenges in the organisation and administration of sport.

If you are interested in being involved in CIS Sport in this way, please contact CIS asap. Lyndall Jesse E: [email protected]

SECONDARY GIRLS CRICKET

These trials were held at Action Sports Indoor Centre at Mt Kur-ring-gai last Friday. The number of girls nominating has again increased. This is an indication of the welcome sudden growth in interest in women’s’ sport which was initiated by Cricket. We have a high number of very successful past CIS team girls involved in the WBBL.

Thank you to Alison Gowan, CIS Secondary Girls Cricket, SCEGGS Darlinghurst, AHIGS-IGSSA Convenor, for her quiet and efficient organisation of these trials, and to Coach Kate Howie Pymble Ladies College, AHIGS-IGSSA, Manager Tamsyn Kelson, St Andrews Cathedral School. ISA, Rachel Halpin, Bishop Tyrell Anglican College, AICES and Mikayla Hinkley WBBL player and ex CIS Representative for 9 Years who selected the girls listed below. It was unfortunate and inconsiderate that a couple of selectors pulled out on the morning of the trials. Team lists will shortly be available on the website. The girls will be contacted when online ordering is available. Thy will play against CCC and CHS 1 & 2 at the All Schools at Raby from 12-14 March, 2019
