This description is for Acer cissifolium 'Mitsudekaede' (Acer Cissifolium):

Vine-leafed maple: this maple has that look just like a vine, but sadly you won't get bottles of wine out of it.

A native Japanese maple, Acer Cissifolium or Vine-leafed maple is a spreading that grows in an attractive rounded shape without a need for any drastic pruning. It has toothed leaves that turn a pinkish yellow colour in the autumn. The young shoots start out life a pinkish colour and turn grey with age. It prefers soil that's slightly acidic and has fairly good resistance to strong winds. It doesn't grow massive, usually reaching a height of around 6-10 metres, so you don't need a ginormous garden to grow this one.
