Only 3 runners went to post in 2018 but we still managed to find a Royal Ascot winner as Old Persian followed up his win here by taking the King Edward VII Stakes at 9/2. The filly Kinky Afro finished last in 2010 but ran the race of her career to be 5th in the fillies Sandringham Handicap at 40/1. It was the 2009 runner up Father Time who did best of that years field when winning the King Edward VII at 9/1 from Ride With The Wind who had been 4th here at Newmarket. The 4th home in 2008 Drill Sergeant was 5th in the King George V handicap at 20/1. 2007 winner Lucarno didn't run as a 2yo but scored here, was fourth in the Derby, second at Ascot in the King Edward VII and also won that years St Leger. 2006 winner Red Rocks would go on to win a Breeders Cup race later in his career but was beaten into second in the King Edward VII at that years Royal Ascot RACE 27: KING CHARLES II STAKES (NEWMARKET) SATURDAY 18TH MAY – 7f (3yo only) RESULTS: 2006 – 2018

The 2015 winner Tupi was 4th in the Jersey Stakes while the runner up Latharnach was also runner up in the St James Palace Stakes at 25/1.
