JARED CHASE Dr. Jared Chase, music director Jared Chase is an assistant professor of music at Nazareth College where he directs the wind symphony, teaches courses in conducting and brass methods, coordinates the instrumental Piccolo Clarinet Horn String Bass department, is program director for the Bachelor of Music Performance degree as well as Heather Langley+ Gina Lane+ Arissa Kyler+ Sean Power* Meredith Rice+ Whitney Fairchild+ performs in the faculty brass quintet. Dr. Chase received his MM in trumpet performance and Flute Elizabeth Bablok# Piano/Celeste DMA in wind conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Nicole Darling^ Elyssa Utz^ Trumpet Kathryn Pukos^ (CCM). He has been a presenter at the following conference; the College Band Directors Jennifer Zheng# Norene Meyer+ National Association (CBDNA), NYSSMA, the Ohio Music Educator Association (OMEA), Bass Clarinet Yuan Miao* Percussion and the World Associate of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) 14th International Alto Flute Stacey Coogan+ Jamison Brooks* Conference. Stacey Yazo^ Trombone Torrey Cobb^ Contrabass Clarinet Kara Rider+ Dylan Niver^ Bassoon Nick Sutton* Tim Dyet~ Dr. Chase studied music education and trumpet performance at the University of Colorado, Keith Koster Boulder. He continues to be an active freelance performer and has performed with numerous Jessica Perry professional orchestras and ensembles. During the fall of 2013 he was a visiting assistant professor of ensembles and conducting at the Eastman School of Music where he conducted the Wind Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Dr. Chase has taught at the Cincinnati College- Conservatory of Music, Sinclair Community College, Central State University, Bethany College, the Eastman School of Music and in the public schools of Ohio. ABOUT DR. BRETT LONG Trumpeter Brett Long is a freelance musician and educator based in Rochester, NY. He holds WIND SYMPHONY multiple teaching positions in the region, and maintains an active freelance and recital schedule. Brett has performed throughout North America and Europe at competitions, masterclasses, and FOUR SOMETHINGS conferences, and is the founding member of the award-winning Emerald Brass. Dr. Long has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic, and has participated in tours and recordings with Jared Chase, conductor the Eastman Wind Ensemble. Recent highlights include two performances of Bach’s B Minor James Douthit, piano Mass with the American Festival Chorus, and an Emerald Brass residency at the University of Utah. Saturday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. Linehan Chapel Brett earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music, with a minor in Academic Leadership through the Warner School of Education. He also earned a Master of Music and the prestigious Performer’s Certificate from Eastman, where he studied with James The Nazareth College Wind Symphony performs a variety of new, old, and borrowed music featuring the 90th anniversary of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Thompson and Douglas Prosser. She was a violinist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Florida and later a contract sub with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra from 1986 to 1997. Mrs. Strelau has been the recipient of The Nazareth College Wind Symphony is under the direction of Dr. Jared Chase. Whether it’s taken the form of appearing as a concerto soloist, playing in a variety of chamber ensembles, performing as an orchestral musician or as a jazz player, teaching students of all ages or overseeing artistic programs or festivals, he has been most fortunate to experience a rich array of musical opportunities. In addition to holding the position of Associate Professor of Trombone, Euphonium, and Brass Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music, Mr. Kellogg is chair of the Winds, Brass and Percussion Department and an affiliate faculty member in the school’s departments of Jazz and Contemporary Media and Music Teaching and Learning. Co-Director of the Eastman Trombone Choir, he also serves as Director for the school’s community engagement program, Eastman To Go. Inspired by his son’s experiences as an actor, Mr. Kellogg initiated a course under the auspices of the Eastman School’s Arts Leadership Program in 2014 called “Parallels Between Acting and Musical Performance”. This annual class seeks to identify the commonalities between these two art forms and is team taught with two professional actors and arts educators, Skip Greer and Robert Rutland.
