What to look for in Today’s Matches Thursday THE ER January 9, 2020 Noon: Nicolas Müller (Switzerland, age 30, rank 29) vs. Youssef Soliman (Egypt, age 22, rank 37) The Swiss veteran has played some of the best squash of his career in Grand Central, including a 2018 quarterfinal run and five straight second round appearances. Soliman’s agility could cause him problems, however, as indicated in their only previous PSA encounter—a narrow fifty-minute Müller victory in Hong Kong last September. 12:45: Lucas Serme (France, age 27, rank 35) vs. Abdullah Al Tamimi (Qatar, age 25, rank 39) The pacy and skillful Al Tamimi played the best squash of his career during November’s PSA World Championship in his native Qatar where he reached the third round, and he will hope to continue that form. This will be his first career match up against the industrious Frenchman, who reached the ToC second round for the first time last year. 2:30: Arturo Salazar (Mexico, age 32, rank 43) vs. Mathieu Castagnet (France, age 33, rank 25) 2020 TOC APPAREL Castagnet, a top-ten player in 2016, won his only previous encounter against the Salazar twin, but it took him more than an ON SALE AT THE TOC hour. Expect power and pace from both players in what could be one of the day’s most entertaining and attritional match PRO SHOP ups. ¼ Zip Pullover $69 3:15: Campbell Grayson (New Zealand, age 33, rank 28) vs. Edmon Lopez (Spain, age 23, rank 53) Commemorative T $29 Lopez, who was a late addition to the tournament due to withdrawals, will make his ToC debut in his first career match up GCT Clock T-Shirt $29 against the Boston-based Kiwi.

WSF INSTANT UPDATE ISSUE 68 MAY/JUNE 2017 To: ALL WSF MEMBER NATIONAL FEDERATIONS cc: WSF Regional Vice-Presidents, WSF Commssion Members, PSA members, Accredited Products and Companies EL SHERBINI RETAINS WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE Egypt’s first ever female squash World Champion Nour El Sherbini successfully defended her Women’s World Championship title after defeating compatriot Raneem El Welily to take the honours in El Gouna, Egypt. Held at the New Marina against the backdrop of Egypt’s Red Sea, El Sherbini - who defeated Laura Massaro 12 months ago to become the youngest Women’s World Champion of all time - was in spell-binding form to dispatch a slightly nervy El Welily, who was appearing in her second World Championship final. The 21-year-old never allowed fellow Alexandrian El Welily to get into her game, with El Sherbini closing the win out 3/0 to etch her name into the history books once more. El Sherbini’s victory brought a six-month title drought to an end with her first major title since she lifted her first World Championship title in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia a year ago. "I'm over the moon, two or three months ago I wouldn't have imagined that I would have won because I haven't won a [major] title this season," said El Sherbini. "It felt like I wasn't going to win this season anymore, but once I knew that it was going to be in Egypt, I was so excited and wanted to come to play in El Gouna.

Both players are diminutive in stature at 5’3 and 5’0 and rely heavily on their precision in the front of the court. WSF INSTANT UPDATE ISSUE 77 NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2018 FOR ALL WSF REGIONAL & NATIONAL FEDERATIONS cc: WSF Regional Presidents, WSF Commssion Members, PSA members, Media, Stakeholders, Accredited Products and Companies SQUASH SHOWCASE LEAVES A LASTING IMPRESSION WSF President Jacques Fontaine believes that squash's recent Showcase at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games 2018 will have left a lasting impression on both the population of Buenos Aires and the Olympic family following a successful week of action that saw over 25,000 people witness squash in the flesh. Over 2,000 children tasted their first experience of squash during the week through introductory sessions on a miniature outdoor activation court - while the Showcase all-glass court, situated in the heart of Technopolis Park, attracted almost 5,000 visitors each day with many witnessing squash for the first time in their lives. Joining the thousands of locals to watch the squash showcase were high-profile IOC members such as HRH Tunku Imran, former President of the Commonwealth Games Federation, and Olympic Games Executive Director Christophe Dubi, who had the chance to step onto court and experience the sport first-hand (pictured below) - an experience shared by hundreds of lucky locals who were given the chance to play a suite of new interactive games on the centrepiece court. More from Buenos Aires …. "The Squash Showcase in Buenos Aires has exceeded all expectations and we are delighted with the reaction from the local population, the participating athletes and the wider IOC family," said Fontaine. "Along with enjoying what could be a once-in- a-lifetime experience for many, our athletes embraced the local spirit and it was fantastic to see them engaging with young fans and to see so many smiles on the young schoolchildren's faces.
