MALABAR RIVER FESTIVAL 2014 AT ON JULY 25-27.

With Malabar River Festival, adventure is not soft-pedaling. Avowed one of the most daring adventure sports like Whitewater kayaking to newer heights, Malabar River Festival Second Edition is an initiative of Department of Tourism under the aegis of Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) in association with District Tourism Promotion Council and Madras Fun Tools. In organizing this festival, our aim is to promote the sport of White Water Kayaking in South India and display the incredible, unexplored rivers that Kerala has to offer the international paddling community.

The first edition of the Malabar River Festival, held in August 2013 was a smashing success. With about 50 kayakers from all over the India, Europe and North America, the competition was keenly contested and big hit with the audience.

The Malabar River festival returns this year with a bang without motto being "Bigger, Harder and Faster". With nearly double the prize money from last year (Rs. 5 lakhs/ USD 9000) up for grabs and about 80 participants from all over the world. Top international athletes from various countries including New Zealand, Italy, England, Wales, USA, Nepal, Brazil, South Korea and Japan, will be rock at the festival and ensure that the level of competition is truly world class. Some of the international kayak celebrities who will be part of the event surly be surprise for kayak lovers!

The competition will be held over three days and will include a new river location at , along with several new event categories like Endurance Boater Cross and Play-Boating Freestyle.

The Malabar Festival 2014 will feature the following categories and events:

1. Pro Category

• Giant Slalom

• Downriver Race & Boater cross (time trials)

• Endurance boater cross (Tentative)

2. Beginners / First Timers

• Giant Slalom

• Boater Cross

With July monsoon in full swing, aided by the roaring white waters, The Malabar River festival 2014 promises to enthrall any audience and put Kerala firmly on the world whitewater map.
