The Saunders, the Chief storage capacity is Executive Officer, CWSA particularly important during the dry weather Local government apparatus badly needed FROM MY POSITION I am inclined to the view, that those charged with administration have been themselves the fashioners of the dilemma which now faces us because of the COVID-19 scourge. When the electioneering began towards the end of last year, we were already aware of the risks of the spread of COVID-19, but we did not see the political parties exhibiting the level of concern during their campaigning. I remember distinctly at Arnos Vale the entertainer MC urged people to come closer to the stage. Today we are under serious stress. The Ministry of Health is to some degree blameable for the erosion of the people’s confidence in them when their attitude relative to elementary health care issues, are so clearly dissatisfactory. I myself am influenced by the “wutless-neglect” exhibited at the back of the Girls’ High School and the St. Vincent Grammar School, the two most prominent secondary schools in the land. They are over 100 years old and many of our leading administrators have been graduates of those institutions. Incidentally the head offices of the two leading political parties are located less than two hundred yards from those schools. Yet, we have that situation persisting for over a year. To compound the issue, the evacuees had to be accommodated at those schools. It must be remembered that we lost one of the students to dengue some time ago. We need to urgently address with maturity the issues negatively impacting our people. Incidentally the local government apparatus would have been a very valuable tool in addressing many of the issues facing us today.
