Ovest-Redipuglia” power line and associated rationalisation: the process commences for changes to the 132 kV “Ca’ Poia-Redipuglia” power line

 The work that Terna will carry out, in accordance with the agreements entered into with local authorities, will involve the Municipalities of Fogliano Redipuglia, San Pier d’Isonzo and  The changes will allow 4 km of old lines to be decommissioned, demolishing 15 pylons close to homes  A new line will be built away from homes, taking advantage of existing routes: 1.25 km will be overhead, and 3.0 km will be underground cabling  In the meantime, works for the “Udine Ovest-Redipuglia” power line also continue according to plan, with further line electrification tests on the “Udine Sud-Redipuglia” section

Rome, 18 September 2017 – The legal notice regarding commencement of the procedure for construction and implementation of the overhead/underground variant to the 132 kV “Ca’ Poia- Redipuglia” power line will be published, as provided for in the agreements entered into by Terna, the manager of the national electricity grid, with local authorities.

On 11 August 2017, Terna sent the final plans for the work to the regional authority. The changes will affect the Municipalities of Fogliano Redipuglia, San Pier d’Isonzo and Villesse. Thanks to the construction of 1.25 km of new overhead lines (4 new pylons) and the laying of 3.0 km of underground cables, it will be possible to decommission 4 km of old overhead lines which over time have become closer to homes and buildings; 15 pylons will be demolished.

The legal publication lists all of the land affected by the work, identified by land-registry plots. A pre-ordered easement is in force over these for the construction of the power lines. The affected parties can review the documentation, which will be available at the Technical Offices of the Municipalities involved, and the offices of the Regional Administration (Energy Department) for 20 days; it will then be possible to submit any observations to the Regional Administration within 30 days.

The changes form part of the activities for comprehensive rationalisation of the regional electricity grid associated with the construction of the 380 kV “Udine Ovest-Redipuglia” power line. Thanks to the 40 km of new overhead power lines, essential for resolving the risk of outages affecting Friuli’s electricity grid, it will be possible to decommission 110 km of old lines and approximately 400 pylons in 30 Municipalities in the Bassa Friulana area. 367 hectares of land will be released from the current power line easement, with benefits for 680 buildings currently positioned within 100 metres of the lines to be demolished.

In the meantime, the construction of the “Udine O.–Redipuglia” line continues according to plan and on schedule. In the coming days, electrification tests will also commence on the section of the power line between the Udine Sud and Redipuglia electrical substations, following the tests already performed at the start of August on the “Udine Ovest–Udine Sud” section. Notice of the commencement of the tests will be published on the noticeboards of the affected Municipalities (Santa Maria la Longa, Trivignano Udinese, Palmanova, , Tapogliano, Villesse, San Pier d'Isonzo).
