III. OUTREACH INITIATIVES

No. Type of Outreach Initiative Brief Description of Activity

1 Co-sponsored a job fair In September 2010, Townsquare Media of Utica co- sponsored the Part Time Career Fair with Herkimer County Community College. As co-sponsor, we had a table front and center to meet each person that attended. The job fair had an attendance of 250-300 people, and we had about 200 people visit our booth. We spoke with each person that visited our booth to explain the opportunities that a radio station offers. Applications were provided to jobseekers. .

2 Mentoring Internship Townsquare Media of Utica participated in a mentoring Program program that provided 2 local students with exposure to our broadcast operations. We welcomed both students to our stations during the fall semester. One student attended Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, a local trade school. The other student came to us from an FFA program at Hamilton Central High School. The students were placed with our stations as part of the Regional Program for Excellence, and the students received school credit for their work. They visited all of our departments so they could get an understanding of how each of our departments works. Our Operations Manager served as the coordinator for the internship program.

Townsquare Media also participated in a job-shadowing program organized by Oneida County SABA (School and Business Alliance). Two students from Poland Central School system spent a day at the radio station, job shadowing DJ’s, Newscasters, the Director of Production, Copywriter, and Programming Directors.

Townsquare Media of Utica also had a student from Herkimer County Community College who began his internship the first week of January. He continued the internship through May. He worked in all of our departments getting an understanding of how each department works.

Townsquare Media received a grant from New York State Broadcasters Association’s Intern Program. This gave us the opportunity to hire a paid intern. This college student worked with the Operations Manager in various capacities, during the summer, which gave him a better understanding of a complete work week. His work load was well-rounded in on-air, production and news.

3 EEO Training In March 2010, Townsquare Media of Utica’s General Manager presented an EEO training seminar to the department heads at the station. The seminar presented methods to ensure nondiscriminatory hiring and promotion practices.
