5 Day Mini-Tour: Mayanja, Chimps, Murchison

Day 1: Leave from

Your driver/guide will pick you up at your accommodation/residence, at a time arranged with you, preferably before 9 am. You will be in a 4x4 Safari Vehicle, with drinks available. The drive to Ngoma will take about 4 hours. After Ngoma, an additional hour or so drive on dirt roads passing through bushy, rural area you will reach Lodge in time to freshen up and have a juicy BBQ dinner by our fireplace, overlooking the river.

Day 2: Mayanja – Masindi

Early breakfast at Mayanja River Lodge. You can choose between any of our morning activities in Mayanja: bush walk, canoe cruise downriver, cerebeti experience or mix of all three. Whichever you prefer, you will be back in the lodge by 11:00 am, before the hot hours. A light lunch will be served in our Mess hall. Departure from Mayanja by 3:00 pm, and drive up to Masindi, where you will arrive in time for sundowners at the famous Hemingway’s Bar in Masindi Hotel – Uganda’s oldest hotel Accommodation: Masindi Hotel. Day 3: chimps – Murchison

Early wake-up and breakfast to make it in time for the 8:00am chimpanzee tracking in Budungo Forest, about 1-2 hours drive from Masindi. The guided tracking will take you on a 2-3 hour walk through the forest in search of the chimps. Along the walk you’ll get to see a variety of birds and other primates in their natural habitat. Next, you will travel deeper into the park and have lunch in either Baker’s Lodge, Murchison River Lodge or a similar location. After lunch, a private and exclusive boat cruise along the will take you to see the spectacular Murchison Falls. While cruising on the river, you will encounter plentiful wildlife on the riverbanks and certainly in the water too. The red African sunset is the perfect backdrop to enjoy your sundowner drinks. Your guide will pick you up in the safari car for a game drive and drive up towards the northern boundary of the park. Bwana Tembo Safari Camp and its staff, situated just outside the park will, will be your hosts on this part of your safari. Accommodation: Bwana Tembo Safari Camp. (Full Board)

Day 4: Murchison falls national park

Today is dedicated mainly to game drives in the park and with the option of sport fishing on the Nile. We always recommend to start your morning game drives early, as the wildlife is a bit more active during the cooler hours. Lunch will be back at Bwana Tembo. You will then set off for your afternoon activity around 3:30pm: either an afternoon game drive, a delta cruise or sport fishing. There is also the possibility of organising a bush BBQ in the park, followed by a night game drive. Accommodation: Bwana Tembo Safari Camp. (Full Board)

Day 5: murchison - kampala

Today you will return to Kampala, with the option to stop at ZIWA Rhino Sanctuary for lunch, and go rhino tracking either before or after lunch, depending on the departure time from Bwana Tembo Safari Camp.
