Wasabi Salmon - Forkish Habits

Ingredients

• 1 tsp Wasabi ( Sonic Real Wasabi) • 0.5 oz (Chosen Foods 100% Avocado oil Based) • Furikake (Eden Shake and Sea Vegetable ) • Salmon fillet

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees 2. Mix wasabi seasoning and a little water to form a . Let it sit for 10 mins for the flavors to strengthen. If you like a stronger wasabi, you can use more powder or try this brand, J. Basket Powdered Sushi Wasabi, which has a bit more heat. 3. Mix the wasabi paste with the .5oz of mayonnaise. 4. Make a foil boat with aluminum foil shiny side down. Put it on a baking sheet. 5. Place salmon fillet skin side down in the boat. (Optional-cut off the skin, since you won’t be eating it. The skin would count as a fat.) Sprinkle , pepper, and powder on the salmon fillet. Spread the wasabi mayo on top and sprinkle the top with a little furikake (Eden Shake Sesame and Sea Vegetable Seasoning) 6. Seal the aluminum foil so the top doesn’t rest on the wasabi mayo. Bake for 8-10 mins. depending on how much your fillet weighs. You can test for doneness by using a fork-the fish should flake easily. 7. You may remove the skin before or after cooking-don’t eat it since the mayonnaise already counts as your fat serving. Weigh the salmon fillet after cooking, with the .5oz for the wasabi/mayo, trim as needed to make 4.5oz total that’s the protein plus fat serving for women or 6.5oz serving for men. What is Wasabi?

It’s that green stuff served on the side of your sushi. It’s a paste made from the root () of a native Japanese that is related to and . This ’s hotness is more like hot mustard or horseradish than , because it impacts the nose more than the tongue. I don’t care for the heat of chili pepper but I LOVE this stuff! If you love wasabi, like I do, I suggest buying the alternative stronger brand (both are linked below). Really don’t be afraid, this recipe is mild but flavorfully delicious, I promise! Be adventuresome and give it a try.

Why do I say “aloha and howdy” at the beginning of my videos?

Because I grew up in Hawaii, raised my kids there, spent most of my life there. In 2016, I relocated to Dallas, Texas. Hence the “Aloha” represents my past home and the “Howdy” represents my current home. I love them both! Here at Forkish Habits, I can’t wait to share with you recipes from the diverse cultures in Hawaii that I have reworked to be Bright Line Eating compliant. Hence, sexy food that is flavorful, healthy, and BRIGHT!
