Minutes of Meeting held on 17 January 2011, Dullatur Village Hall at 8.00pm.

Present Margaret Smillie, E Watson, W Jamieson, M Sweet, Cllr Chadha, Cllr 0 ’B rien. Apologies J McLean, M Kennedy, Cllr McCulloch, Cllr Murray. Minutes The December meeting was cancelled due to atrocious weather conditions. The previous Minutes were circulated and taken as read and approved. Matters Arising Street Lights, the old lights are being removed from the village by Amey. Correspondence The majority of the correspondence from the end of November 2010 was weather related. According to Councillor Chadha he received more complaints regarding lack of gritting and snow clearance in the ward than in any other time in his memory as a councillor. Thanks to all our councillors for handling the complaints promptly and pushing the overstretched departments to get things moving along.

E-mail from Mrs E Jamieson regarding the condition to the Glen Road in the aftermath of the thaw. Debris is building up the Chanticleer Burn and the felled tree is still lying at the side of the Road. Several residents of Victoria Terrace have also reported this. E-mails from Dr Stoddart, J Isgrove, F Donnelly, C Pettigrew Smith, B Jamieson, I McHardie, J Hart and many other residents re the failure of the glass bin not being collected in December. This was also experienced in other areas of Cumbernauld. NLC; E-mail from Cllr Chadha and McCulloch re above to NLC depts. E-mails from M O’Neil, K Roberts, J Doogan re sewage smells from the pumping station at the school pick up point in Antonine Road. NLC; E-mail from Cllr Chadha re above to Environmental Dept. NLC; E-mail from I Morrison, Environmental Officer. She explained that this was due to Scottish Water’s wet well cleaning programme to remove silt. This strong odour can also be aggravated by extreme cold weather. E-Mail from B Kinsler, Chair of Community Council, regarding NLC Planning lists. NLC have ceased to issue weekly Planning List information. It now means that CC secretaries will have to access NLC system and select what is of interest to their area. This certainly will not simplify things for the volunteer members of groups. E-mail from Mrs C Pettigrew Smith re planned cut backs to cease free school transport for High School pupils who lived within three miles from the school. NLC; E-mails from Cllr Murray, Chadha and O’Brien, this will not apply to pupils living in the immediate area as there is no safe walking route to any of the High schools. Group Reports; Toddler Group & Playgroup Christmas Fayre was held on 4thDecember Thanks to Cllr O’Brien who arranged for Amey vehicles and staff to clear the road in front of the Village Hall and Craigard Nursery. This eased the dangers to parents and children who had to unload their children on to the single track path cut by the snowplough as the snow had been banked up on both pavements to the depth of 4 feet. Only one Christmas party was cancelled but the rest went on ahead as planned.

Social Events The Community Council held their St Andrews Night Dinner on Saturday 27 November at 7.30. The numbers were down due to the heavy snowfall. The residents who braved the weather had a great night out. All the Christmas events went off as planned; the Christmas Show was especially well attended and over &300.00was raised for Spina Bifida .

Cllr Chadha’s Surgery; The first surgery in Dullatur Village Hall on Saturday 27‘h November was cancelled due to the snow. Residents were notified.

Councillors Reports; Cllr Chadha reported that the Parent Council of Cumbernauld Primary and St Andrews Primary had resolved the situation of classing configuration by giving a sensible proposal that hopefully will be accepted by both parties and NLC. St Andrews Primary still have to hold their meeting. On reporting on the recent bad weather he said that he made sure to the best of his ability that everyone in his ward was informed with current information.

Cllr O’Brien reported that Cumbernauld North has the lowest spend of school staffing. In response to the earlier complaints of the winter maintenance programme Cllr O’Brien reported and showed the members that Cumbernauld had more resources available that any other areas in North Lanarkshire. When asked about the red grit that had been used and is now a nuisance Cllr O’Brien assured us that it would be cleared up and E15 million had bee allocated by the Scottish Government to fill potholes and repair damaged road surfaces Cumbernauld do not have an area partnership at the moment.

Any other Business Trees have fallen in Glen Road bringing down power lines. E Watson reported that Woodland Trust had been doing a survey in the Glen Road. Apologies for next meeting E Watson and M Sweet. Date of next Meeting 14 February 2011, Dullatur Village Hall, 8.00pm.
