The documents comprise a draft agreement to levy a fine and three appointments of trustees (1672/3) and a marriage settlement between Dame Mary Starling, widow, and George, Viscount Grandison (1674). Original covers missing. Begun originally as a record of the purchase money received for the sale of the Duke's manor of Leominster, Herefordshire, and continued as a general account book. Among the parties mentioned are George Monck, 1st Duke of Albemarle (1608-70), Stephen Monteage (?1623-87, merchant and accountant), and Brian Fairfax (1633-1711, cousin to Mary Fairfax, Buckingham's wife. Associated with the Duke in a diplomatic visit to the continent and acted for a time as Buckingham's agent).
