SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETINGS - During the year there were four General Assembly meetings. These were open to all members and their invited guests. The meetings were excellent times to meet with other members on a social basis, and to learn about plans for the Club, as well as to enjoy a good program. The November meeting featured Roger Hedge of the DNR with an illus trated slide talk of Natural Features of Morgan-Monroe Forest. A. T. Mulberry showed slides at the March meeting of a backpack in Wyoming along the Wind River range. In May the program was on the Knobstone Trail, featuring the director of Streams and Trails, Mike Martin. This was most timely as two days later on Saturday a group from the Club did maintenance on the trail near Elk Creek. The September meeting was the occasion for the election of officers. The program that evening featured Thomas Patterson presentation of a slide show about a South America trip and Antarctica

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY - The "Bell Tones" from Yorktown _United Methodist Church played music on the bells in keeping with the hpliday season. An unusually large turn-out enjoyed the evening of good friends and good food. Santa Claus (Win Pulsifer) gave out apples as presents. Thanks to Gene Waltz and Bill Flora for the apples.

ANNUAL SUMMER PICNIC .- On a Saturday in July we met at Shelter House "B" in 8agle Creek Park. The hikers took off at 10:00 AM and the rest of the people arrived later during the morning. After the pitch-in meal, Win helped to keep things going by arranging a watermelon seed "spitting" contest. We 're not sure who won.

WORK ON THE KNOBSTONE TRAIL - On May 11th, some 7 members of the Club met at the Elk Creek trailhead for work under the supervision of Mike Martin of the DNR. Richard Field, the staff photographer, took some excellent pictures which were featured in the next issue of OUTDOOR , the publication of the DNR.
