Greetings,

As mayor of Houston, it is my pleasure to welcome the participants and supporters of the 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon.

The marathon continues to be the largest single-day sporting event in Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city. Once again, the race will feature 31,000 participants including some of the world’s finest runners and spirited supporters.

For over four decades, Houstonians have volunteered their time in support of this iconic event which is now a cherished tradition. Thanks to our generous sponsors and volunteers for keeping the Houston Marathon .

Good luck to all participants. I appreciate the countless hours of hard work you put into preparing for this event. On behalf of the citizens of Houston, best wishes for a successful and memorable race.

Sincerely,

Annise D. Parker Mayor

2 CHEVRON HOUSTON MARATHON WELCOME TO HOUSTON

The Houston Marathon Committee welcomes you to the forty-third annual Chevron Houston Marathon and its companion races, the Aramco Houston Half Marathon and the ABB 5K.

This year, our Committee hopes to build on 2014’s successful launch of the biggest course revision since our marathon went to its city-wide course in 1986. The feedback from race participants and spectators was uniformly positive, and only minor course deviations are in store for them this weekend due to ever-present infrastructure construction in economically vibrant Houston. On the professional running front, the Chevron Houston Marathon maintains its tradition of an impressive international field, while the Aramco Houston Half Marathon serves yet again as the Men’s and Women’s U.S. Half Marathon Championships, showcasing many of America’s best distance runners for the seventh time in the last nine years. The professionals’ performances on the new courses last year confirmed the quality of the course revisions, and we are eager to give the elite athletes another opportunity to rewrite the record books in both races.

The ABB 5K is now in its third year as the leadoff event of race weekend, and it boasts a new and improved start line adjacent to Discovery Green. Participants in that race can then experience both the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute EXPO in the George R. Brown Convention Center and the We Are Houston RunFest in Discovery Green. All in all, the entire weekend promises an invigorating and exciting experience for participants, spectators and volunteers alike.

Please help us in thanking all of our sponsors by using and promoting their products and services whenever possible. We also thank the City of Houston, the City of West University Place and their respective departments and agencies for allowing us to use their streets and other public accommodations. Our events would not exist without the valuable contributions of them all.

Finally, we thank you for participating in, volunteering for or simply cheering on the runners at all of the weekend’s races. In particular, we thank the runners for showing their confidence in our ability to host a series of world-class races. We’ll see everyone at the finish line.

Brant Kotch Race Director and President, Houston Marathon Committee, Inc.
