A Happy Homecoming for Rams

By MIKE MYLLEK Homecoming around Rose Hill had not been too joyous an event the past few years. Our gridiron greats had turned in less than stellar performances over the past several years. While this weekend's 13-7 win over Catholic University was not a thing of beauty, it gave the Rams a 3-0 record and their best start since the 1949 campaign. As was the case in the previous two wins, the Rams' defense against the was the primary reason for the win. Head coach Larry Glueck credited defensive coordinator Joe Rodriguez for the fine effort by the defense. "Joe really challenged their offense to move the ball on us. We had all their angles shut down," Glueck commented. The result was the third straight week that an opponent was held to under 100 yards Defender Marty Mazarra (98) w rushing by the Fordham defense. Catholic's one reason the Rams went on to their net total on the .ground was a meager 40 straight victory on Homecoming. yards. With that effort the Rams' defense has Fordham defeated Catholic University, now allowed just 35 yards rushing per game. 13-7. Fordham's defense was not hurt by the sloppy condition of the field.
