Abbot Peak East, 2145m 10. , 2145m Join us for 4 days hiking and 3 nights camping in ’s beautiful high country - climbing the ten highest peaks in Australia with one of Australia’s most experienced mountain guides, Mike Edmondson and your Diamonds in the Rough Adventure Coach, Jo. The trip includes 3 nights self-sufficient remote camping, 2 nights accommodation in our own private European style luxury lodge in Jindabyne and a celebratory dinner at the famous Banjo Patterson Inn. Plenty of time to share stories with a glass of wine around a cosy warm fire. This endurance style trek takes us along variable tracks including gravel to rougher, rocky roads, possible snowdrifts and snowgrass sections that require waterproof footwear with ankle support (boots). If you love the challenges of an action-packed adventure including rock scrambles, physical and mental challenges, summit hiking and remote camping then this is perfect for you. Please note, for safety reasons if the weather forecast is wet & windy with poor visibility, we may need to either change the walks to safer lower elevations locations & possibly book extra accommodation in Jindabyne at the last moment so we can walk safely every day in dry gear. • Cost: $1395 (twin share accommodation) • Meeting Time and Location: 4pm Thursday 18th November. Troldhaugan Lodge, 13 Cobbadah St, Jindabyne NSW. • Maximum numbers: 12 clients plus 1 awesome Diamonds in The Rough Adventures Coach (Jo Vartanian) - a minimum of 10 is required for the trip to go ahead. • Difficulty: Moderate - Challenging • Requirements: a good level of fitness, comfortable with long steep ascents and descents and able to carry a full pack up to 17kg. Ability to be self-sufficient when camping including bringing and preparing your own light-weight meals and setting up your tent. • Length: 6 days (2 nights private lodge accommodation, 3 nights camping)

NOT INCLUDED:

• Travel to and from Charlottes Pass and National Park’s Visitor/Car entry fee – we will carpool. • Meals when camping and dinner on Day 1 • Personal clothing, cooking and camping equipment – a 4-season tent is a requirement and can be hired (single $70, twin share $100) – a detailed gear and equipment list will be provided on booking and hire options are available. • Travel to and from Sydney – car pooling is recommended.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Thursday 18th Nov: Travel to Jindabyne, 4pm Lodge Check-in and 4:30pm Hike Briefing. Arrive 4pm for check-in at Troldhaugan Lodge Jindabyne followed by a compulsory team briefing with our guide Mike at 4.30 pm at 51 Townsend Street, Jindabyne. We will be briefed on the walk & weather conditions, plus thorough gear check. You will receive any hire gear as required (pre-booking for hire gear is required). We will book a local restaurant for dinner (optional) or you can grab a snack and head back to the lodge for an early night.

Day 2 Friday 19th Nov: 9hrs hiking, 16km Total (10km with full packs). After an early breakfast we will meet at 7:30am ready to drive 45 minutes to Charlottes Pass where we leave the cars for four days. Today we hike the main range track down across the Snowy River then up past Blue Lake lookout to Carruthers Saddle where we leave our large packs and continue with small day packs and clothing to have lunch on Mt Twynam. We then return to pick up our large packs to summit Carruthers Peak arriving at Wilkinson’s Creek Camp site by 5:30pm. Time to set up camp, cook dinner and relax. After dinner we will take a short sunset walk viewing near camp.

Day 3 Saturday 20th Nov: 7hrs off track hiking, 12km Total (12km lighter full packs, with all clothes, lunch & water). Rise at 6am for a spectacular mountain sunrise then breakfast before heading out at 8.00 am. We will climb Mt Townsend and then Alice Rawson, both with amazing lookouts. After lunch we will walk to Abbot Peak and Abbott Peak East. Back to our previous nights’ camp for a swim, relax, dinner & sunset walk.

Day 4 Sunday 21st Nov: 7hrs hiking, 10km Total (6km with full packs) Rise for another mountain sunrise, breakfast then on the trail at 8:30am. Hike to Mt Kosciuszko for morning tea and summit photos then down to Rawson Pass and up again to summit Etheridge Ridge Peak for lunch. The afternoon hike will take us past Lake Cootapatamba to Scenic Ramshead Plateau and our Ramshead creek campsite site by 3.30 pm. After relaxing next to the spectacular Aries Tors granite boulder formations, it’s time for dinner and an opportunity to enjoy another sunset walk near camp.

Day 5 Monday 22nd Nov: 8hrs on the trail, 12km total (7km with full packs) After sunrise and breakfast, we depart at 8am for a light pack walk through the majestic Ramshead Tors plateau to Mt Ramshead and North Ramshead (our final peak) for morning tea. Back to camp for our final pack up then hike back to Charlotte Pass with lunch on the way next to the Snowy River. Depart for Jindabyne at 3:45pm. In Jindabyne we will have a special presentation plus return & pay for hire gear. Back to the Lodge to freshen up for our celebratory dinner at 6:30pm.

Day 6 Tuesday 23rd Nov: Breakfast and lodge check-out 10am.

A non-refundable deposit of $450 is required at the time of booking- and you will be invoiced for the remainder to be paid 60 days before departure.

WHERE DITRA IS THE OPERATOR To confirm a place on a DITRA Diamond Dream you may be required to pay a non-refundable deposit. If a trip is cancelled by DITRA, a full refund will be given. For Diamond Dreams adventures, the balance of payments must be received at least 60 days before the departure date unless advised otherwise by DITRA. If you cancel a DITRA led Diamond Dream adventure: • more than 30 days from departure, we will retain the deposit or 20% of trip cost, whichever is lower. • Less than 30 days prior to the departure date, we will retain 100% paid by you in connection with your booking. • If you are prevented from attending an adventure as a result of serious illness or injury (medical certificate will be required), the death of an immediate family member, or other reason beyond your control which we consider significant, we will agree to your booking being transferred to another person who satisfies all the conditions applicable to the trip, they accept liability for full payment and you give us sufficient written notice prior to the change.

DITRA strongly recommends travel insurance is taken out at the time of booking to cover cancellations for unforeseen reasons. Each Diamond Adventure has a minimum number of bookings required to proceed. DITRA reserves the right to cancel a trip due to insufficient numbers Final payment for all trips will be due on a date specified by DITRA or the Third Party operator. If a trip is over-subscribed, preference will be given to current training members, then existing DITRA members.

PHOTOGRAPHY – Right to use photographic material When you participate in DITRA activities we, or others may take photographs or film material of clients. By becoming a member, you are giving us permission to use this material, without any compensation to you or express written permission from you. If you give us any photographic material, you agree to allow us free and unlimited licence to use this material.

WHERE A THIRD PARTY IS THE OPERATOR – the Third Party’s Terms and Conditions will prevail.
