LAST GAME - Nov. 5 (Colorado 1 at Dallas 4) scored 19 seconds into the first period, added two goals and the Stars beat the Avalanche, 4-1, at American Airlines Center. made 36 saves for the Stars while Philipp Grubauer stopped 34 shots for Colorado. J.T. Compher had the lone goal for the Avs. The two teams combined for 15 power-play chances, as the Avs went 0-for-8 with the man advantage and the Stars 1-for-7. - Colorado's 21 shots in the third period were its most in a single frame since Dec. 31, 2017 vs. NY Islanders, when the club fired 23 in the second period. - Pierre-Edouard Bellemare appeared in his 400th game. The Le Blanc-Mesnil, France, native became the third French-born player in NHL history to reach that milestone, joining Paul MacLean (719) and Antoine Roussel (478). - Nathan MacKinnon had a game-high eight shots-on-goal, giving him 20 shots in two games against the Stars this season.

MacKINNON STREAK SNAPPED AT 13 Nathan MacKinnon saw his season-opening 13-game point streak snapped in Saturday's loss to Arizona. MacKinnon's streak was the longest to start a season in Avalanche history and the fourth longest in franchise history. YOU HAD TO BE A BIG Nathan MacKinnon ranks second in the NHL with 72 shots, trailing only Alex Ovechkin (76). MacKinnon recorded a career-high 12 shots on Friday night against Dallas, tying the single-game franchise record set by Gabriel Landeskog on Jan. 9, 2019 at Calgary. It was the most shots by an NHL player in a game so far this year. MacKinnon led the NHL with a franchise-record 365 shots last season. He has a shot in 166 consecutive games, the second longest active streak in the league behind Dougie Hamilton (262).

FARM NEWS - forward Josh Dickinson was named the ECHL Player of the Month for October. He tallied nine goals and two assists in seven games, highlighted by back-to-back hat tricks on Oct. 16 vs. Wichita and Oct. 18 at Allen. Dickinson, who signed with Colorado on April 5, 2018, was recently called up to the AHL's . - Adam Werner earned his first AHL shutout in the Colorado Eagles' 4-0 victory over the Reign on Tuesday. The Avalanche's fifth-round pick (131st overall) in the 2016 NHL Draft, Werner has appeared in nine games for the Eagles this season, posting a 5-4 record with a 2.88 GAA and .908 Sv%.

RECORD OCTOBER Cale Makar finished the month of October with 10 points (1g/9a) in 12 games, tying him for first among all rookies in both assists and points. His nine assists set a new Avalanche record for the most helpers by a rookie defenseman in a single month, while his 10 points were the third-highest in any month.

LAST MAN STANDING The Avs were the NHL's last undefeated team (5-0-0) and the last team without a regulation loss (7-0-1). Colorado's 7-0-1 (15 points) start was its best through eight games in franchise history, and the eight-game point streak to begin the campaign was the second- longest to start a season in franchise history (9-0-2 in 2000-01). It was the longest by any team to open a campaign since the Canadiens began 2016-17 with a 9-0-1 run. Colorado won eight of its first 10 games for just the fifth time in franchise history and third time in Avalanche history.

FINE OCTOBER The Avalanche finished 8-2-2 in October, 4-1-1 at home and 4-1-1 on the road. It ranked as the fifth-best October in the 40-year history of the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise.

OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS Some player notes from October: Joonas Donskoi: Matched career highs for goals (5) and points (8) a single month. It was only the second time he's scored five goals in a month (Jan. 2019). Pierre-Edouard Bellemare: Recorded the highest scoring month of his career with seven points (3g/4a). His three goals were also a personal best for any month. Matt Calvert: Eight points tied for the second-highest total of his career (11 in Feb. 2011) Matt Nieto: Had three goals in October, one shy of his total from all of last season, and his most in a month since March 2018 (3).

WORKING Nathan MacKinnon scored his seventh career regular-season OT goal on Oct. 18 in Florida, tying Joe Sakic for the second-highest total in franchise history behind only (9).

HIGH FIVE Cale Makar was the first defenseman in franchise history and just the fifth defender in NHL history to open his NHL career with a five- game point streak. In fact, Makar's five-game streak ended up tied for the second-longest by a blueliner to begin a career in NHL history. Furthermore, Makar also equaled the Avalanche record (since 1995-96) for the longest streak to start a career at any position, a mark Alex Tanguay set to begin his career in 1999-00. Makar, who joined the Avs during their first round series against Calgary last spring, was the first defenseman in league history to score a goal while making his NHL debut in the .

EIGHT MORE YEARS - The Predators signed defenseman Roman Josi to an eight-year, $72.472 million contract on Oct. 29 that will keep the team captain in Nashville through the 2027-28 season. Josi will earn $9.059 million per season from 2020-21 to 2027-28. - He recorded two assists on Monday at Detroit, his fourth multi-point game of the season. - Josi is tied for second in points (16) and tied for third in goals (5) among NHL defensemen. - Josi was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27.
