Washington Bodhi Path Center in Potomac, MD presents two events on the weekend of April 30 and May 1. Shamar will be present to celebrate the occasion.

Saturday, April 30, 2011: 4:00pm - 6:00pm Shamar Rinpoche will sign the new English translation of his book, The Path to Awakening, an extensive commen- tary on Chekawa Yeshe Dorje's Seven Points of Mind Training. Light refreshments will be served.

Sunday, May 1, 2011: 10:00am - 12:00pm Teaching by Shamar Rinpoche, "Day-to-Day Meditation"

This program is FREE and open to the public.

Shamar Rinpoche is the 14th Shamarpa, or Red Hat of Tibet. The Shamarpa lineage is the second oldest reincarnate lineage in and was initially established by the 1st Shamarpa who lived 1283-1349. In The Path to Awakening, Shamar Rinpoche provides an extensive commentary on Chekawa Yeshe Dorje's Seven Points of Mind Training. Chekawa's text is based on the Mind Training () teachings brought to Tibet by Atisha in the 11th century. Shamar Rinpoche's commentary elucidates the inner meaning of Chekawa's Seven Points. It is both a guide to living a ful lling life as a Buddhist and a comprehensive manual of meditation techniques. After the book signing, the festivities will continue on Sunday May 1st with a talk by Sharmar Rinpoche on the Buddhist Path and meditation. The practice of meditation helps re ne and purify one's motivations and attitudes and to realize the true nature of mind.
