From the pastor’s desk: This Sunday is the national celebration of Father’s Day. On this day we offer our Masses for all our fathers living and deceased. Their dedication to their family is a mirror of Jesus’ love for us. They give of themselves and sacrifice their own interests for their children. Each of us is blessed by their lives of selfless service and today we thank them for all they have done for us. May God continue to bless and inspire them in their beautiful vocation. After today, the ushers will give a prayer card to each of the men present as a sign of our thanks and appreciation for all of our fathers. During each Mass we will have a blessing of all the fathers present. Graduation ceremonies have taken place or will soon take place, completing another school year. Personally, and on behalf of the Parish Family, I extend to all of our graduates at every level of academic achievement our congratulations and prayerful best wishes as they move on to continue their education, or join the work force. Forty years ago this weekend, I came here to Blessed Sacrament appointed Pastor by Bishop Edwin Broderick. While I was pleased to come here, I was anxious about many things such as am I able to do this, how will it work out, etc. In faith and with these mixed emotions I prepared to come, and I was warmly welcomed and supported in every way by Father Paul Engel who was Pastor, and moving to another assignment. I found the same warm welcome from the Parish Family members, the Parish Council, Societies, the School Community, etc. These 40 years have flown by; I can hardly believe it is that long. They have been for me years of great joy, excitement, peace and spiritual growth as I have continuously been inspired and strengthened by the faith of all of you the members of our Parish Family. The Priests, Sisters and Parish Ministers that I have ministered with have also enriched my life beyond what I could ever have expected. I thank each of them and each of you for your support in every way. You are always in my prayers please continue to pray for me. God Bless! The following parishioners have agreed to fill the fourteen seats on the Parish Council: Mary Burgess, Bud Delaney, Mary Fenn, Michael Franze, Julie Hasselbarth, Peg Joyce, Mandy Kennedy, Bryan McKim, Bob Merges, John Riley, Jan Rourke, Tom Rourke, Bernadette Vermette, and Frank Zeoli. We thank them for their service to the Parish.
