Before Utah State, Butler was an assistant coach at her alma mater, Eastern Kentucky, during the 2012 season. Before her coaching days, Butler pitched two years (2008-09) for the Colonels, highlighted by a standout senior season in which she posted a 2.32 ERA. Prior to arriving at EKU, Butler played two seasons at Golden West Junior College. As a sophomore there, she posted a 21-13 record with a 1.35 ERA and 170 in 231.2 innings of work. She earned first team all-conference recognition and was an all-tournament selection. Butler earned a degree in sociology from Eastern Kentucky in 2009. Prior to her return to the Colonels as a coach, she served as an assistant coach with the USA Athletics 18 gold team in southern California. She has also been a private pitching instructor since 2009. KAYLA COOK Graduate Assistant Coach/1st season Kayla Cook joined the coaching staff in 2014 as a graduate assistant coach. She is a 2013 graduate of Temple University with a degree in journalism. The Manheim, Pa., native is persuing a master’s degree in sports business. A three-year captain for the Owls, Cook was a starter in 128 of the 144 games in which she played. After suffering through an in - jury laden sophomore season, the utility player who saw time as a catcher, first baseman, third baseman and designated player, re - turned as a junior to bat a career-best .235. In her senior season, she career-highs for doubles with six and homeruns with four. Cook was a four-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Prior to joining the Owls, Brown was the head coach of the La Salle softball program for four seasons before resigning in May of 2012 to pursue other opportunities. In 2008, she served as a graduate assistant coach under Joe DiPietro, who was the Explorers head coach at the time, where her primary responsibility was working with the infielders and outfielders. Brown graduated from nearby Drexel University with a degree in corporate communication in 2007 where she was a standout third baseman for the Dragons. The two-year captain earned All-CAA honors as a senior and led all CAA third basemen in home runs, RBI and in her final season. She holds the current career mark for walks with 69 and graduated as the ca - reer leader with 10. Brown also ranks in Drexel's top 20 for career hits with 133. She earned MVP honors both her fresh - man and senior seasons.
