High School Mock Trial 2018 State Finals

The Indiana Bar Foundation is looking forward to seeing you at the Indiana High School Mock Trial State Finals in on March 3rd and 4th. Please read the following logistical information:

Location: Rounds 1 - 4 will be held at the Indianapolis City-County Building (200 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204). Enter the building on Market St. between Delaware and Alabama.

The Championship Round and Award Ceremony will be held at the (200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204). You must enter the building on the north side (Ohio St.) entrance, unless you need wheelchair accessibility. In that case, you will need to use the east entrance (Capitol Ave.) You will likely have to go through security. The Award Ceremony will be in the Statehouse Rotunda, and the Championship Round will be in the Supreme Court.

Schedule: Rounds 1 – 3 will be on Saturday, March 3rd • 8:30 am: Team Check-in and Courtroom Assignments; Round 1 Judges’ Meeting • 9:00 – Noon: Round 1 Competition • 12:30 pm: Round 2 Judges’ Meeting • 1:00 – 4:00: Round 2 Competition • 4:00: Round 3 Judges’ Meeting • 4:30 – 7:30: Round 3 Competition

Round 4, the Award Ceremony, and Championship Round will be on Sunday, March 4th • 8:30 am: Round 4 Judges’ Meeting • 8:45: Team Check-in and Courtroom assignments • 9:00 – Noon: Round 4 Competition • Noon – 1 pm: Break for lunch and travel to Statehouse • 1:00 – 2:00: Award Ceremony – Indiana Statehouse Rotunda • 2:00 – 5:00: Championship Round – Indiana Supreme Court (Statehouse) • 5:15: Closing and Announcement of State Champion

Traffic: Indianapolis will be busy this weekend. Indianapolis is once again hosting the NFL Combine and the Big 10 Women’s Basketball Tournament. Last year, neither of these

events dramatically affected traffic, but for out of town teams, they’ll certainly affect hotel accommodations.

Parking: Circle Center Mall Parking is a decent option this year, assuming the weather isn’t bad. The Mall is approximately halfway in between the City-County Building and the Statehouse. However, if you’re looking for something closer, see the list below. Remember, all metered parking spots are free on Sundays.

Security: Every person who enters the City-County Building will be required to go through security. Do not bring anything that may be considered a weapon as these items will be confiscated and not returned.

Food and Drink: Food and drink will be permitted on the first floor of the City-County Building and there will be two rooms where teams can leave their refreshments and coats. Please do not leave valuables – these rooms will not be supervised. See the room lists below.

Rosters: If you have any changes to your team(s) rosters, please email them to me ([email protected]) as soon as those changes are known. Roster changes must be submitted by noon, Thursday, March 1st.

Judges: Every team competing must recruit one judge per round. Judges can register at: https://form.jotform.com/72534663106959. We need a minimum of 36 judges per round to hold the competition.

Team Names: Please share team names with family members and friends who will be coming to watch the competition. At the competition, do not wear anything that designates your school.

Watching Trials: No team members, coaches, or otherwise affiliated spectators are permitted to go view other competitions in which they are not competing or have affiliation. This includes teams that might be assigned a bye.
