MCKENDREE TOPS FINAL NTCA DII/DIII POLL

NASHVILLE, TN---

NASHVILLE, TN---McKendree was a near unanimous choice as the No. 1 ranked team in the final Division II/III NCAA Bowling poll of the 2020-21season, conducted by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association (NTCA).

The Bearcats compiled a 77-18 record and reached the semi-final round at the NCAA Championship, held earlier this month in North Kansas City. McKendree received 21 of the 22 first place votes and finished well ahead of Maryville (St. Louis), which had a 50-36 record.

Central Missouri was third and Lincoln Memorial fourth. Medaille jumped from 10th place in the NTCA’s previous poll into fifth, largely based upon its impressive showing at the NCAA Championship where it defeated eventual national champion Nebraska in the opening round.

Wisconsin-Whitewater was sixth, followed by Tusculum, Lewis, Caldwell and Kentucky Wesleyan to round out the Top 10. Marion, which finished 13th, received the other first-place vote on the strength of its 20-1 season mark.

Each position has a designated point value, ranging from 22 points for first place and one point for fifteenth place. To be ranked teams need to equal or surpass the minimum vote criteria, which is one vote for every eight ballots submitted. The actual ranking position is determined by using the adjusted point standings, which lists in priority order the total points a school has accumulated after the highest and lowest votes are dropped.
