NOTICE OF SCHEDULE FOR WATER SYSTEM CHLORINATION/PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE

The City of Pembroke Pines will be performing a chlorination preventive maintenance procedure to clean our Water Distribution System. The procedure will run for three (3) weeks from June 8, 2020 until June 29, 2020.

During this period, the City’s Drinking Water Distribution System will continue to meet ALL Federal and State water quality standards.

Some residents may notice a slight chlorine taste and/or chlorine odor in the water.

Residents on kidney dialysis or those who have other medical conditions should contact their health care providers for more information about increased chlorine levels in their drinking water during this time frame. Fish owners should also take necessary precautions during this procedure.

Additionally, you may see water being flushed from fire hydrants in your neighborhood. This is a part of the normal maintenance process

If you have questions, please call the Utilities Customer Service Department at (954) 518-9000 or visit our website at www.ppines.com for information and updates. We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this maintenance activity. June-July 2020 Pembroke Pines City Connect Page 8

Kids are VIPs in Pembroke Pines

Since the annual Mayor’s Kids Day, which offers an opportu- nity for the kids to be VIPs of the City, is cancelled this year due to COVID-19, the City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department has created an alternative idea to ensure this special day remains special. On June 19, 2020, Mayor Frank C. Ortis will declare “Kids are the VIPs” of their homes. What does that mean? With parents on- board, it means kids in Pembroke Pines will have no chores that day and can break some simple house rules by declaration of the Mayor. This is a day when beds don’t have to be made, dishes don’t have to be washed, and kids get to choose the TV shows to watch, stay up playing video games, and Moms and Dads or guardians will allow them to stay up late and have no curfew. (Please note, this is just for fun and some rules like wearing facemasks and listening to your parents still apply) It’s great to be a kid in Pem- broke Pines, and on a special Mayor’s Kids Day, it’s a great day being a Kid! Please stay safe at home and the City looks forward to celebrating Mayor’s Kids Day in a more traditional way next year.
