PDEA, PNP INTERCEPT P180 MILLION WORTH OF SHABU IN VALENZUELA

Combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) intercepted P180 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu during a vehicle interdiction operation in Valenzuela City.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that the seized illegal drug weighed approximately 36 kilograms and contained inside 36 pieces of aluminum plastic-sealed foil pack hidden in three sako bags.

On January 12, 2016 at about 8:30 in the morning, joint elements of PDEA Special Enforcement Service (PDEA-SES) under the direct supervision of Director Ismael Fajardo, Jr. and PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group conducted an anti-drug operation that led to the seizure of the illegal drug inside a Chevrolet Venture, with plate number XHY-872 in front of a gasoline station in Narciso Street corner Sapang Bakaw, Lawang Bato, Valenzuela City.

Arrested during the operation were Sonny Perrine Ang, 67 years old, a Chinese national and resident of Alapang, La Trinidad, Benguet and Talavera, Nueva Ecija; and Benito Sia Tiuseco, 47, of Golden City, Sta. Rosa Laguna, who were onboard the vehicle.

The operating team then proceeded to an unnumbered warehouse located along East Service Road, Barangay Lawang Bato, Valenzuala (a few meters away where the suspects were arrested) and implemented a search warrant resulting in the discovery of 12 wooden crates containing 12 units of turret milling machine where the illegal drugs were concealed and six black garbage bags of 148 empty foil packs with foam, believed to have residue of shabu.

It is the same warehouse where the suspects hurriedly left onboard their vehicle before they were arrested.

Cases for violation of Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are now being prepared for filing in court against Ang and Tiuseco. They are presently under the custody of PDEA SES.

The seized drug evidence was brought to PDEA Laboratory Service for qualitative and quantitative examination.
