Bidding

Bidding will be conducted by placing your name and bidding number on the appropriate bidding sheet only. If you would like to bid on an item, but you are leaving the conference earlier than the close of bidding on Tuesday, November 11th at 6:30pm, please feel free to ask another conference attendee or auction volunteer to be a designated bidder on your behalf. Illegible entries will be disqualified. Each bid must be done in the designated increment amounts in conjunction with the minimum increment amount listed on the bid sheet, or higher increments as desired by bidders; for example, if the bid increment is listed at $10, and bids start at $25, then each succeeding bid must be as follows: $35, $45, $55 and so on; bidding can be done in higher increments than those listed on the bid sheet (e.g. as per above example of $25 then to $50, $60, $85, etc); any bidding done in increments less than the increment noted on the bid sheet (e.g. as per above example of $25, $35, $40, $45, etc.) will be disqualified and go to the previous correct bidder. Any OMCA member or conference attendee is eligible to bid on an item in the silent auction (excludes OMCA staff and contractors). Winning bidder will be determined by the greatest dollar amount noted on the bid sheet by close of bidding on Tuesday, November 11th at 6:30pm; all bid sheets are scrutinized after bidding closes and any adjustments will be made to ineligible bids at that time. Bids will not be accepted after the auction has been declared closed. All bids are in the currency in which you do business. If you are not present at the close of the bidding on Tuesday and you have a winning bid, you will be notified by OMCA regarding payment and shipping. (Shipping is at your cost). Please feel free to ask auction volunteers to handle any item (e.g. to investigate size, texture, etc.); your cooperation in not touching or reaching for items on your own is greatly appreciated.

GENERAL AUCTION INFO, POLICIES AND GUIDELINES

Restrictions & Limitations

All auction items and services are subject to the limitations and restrictions applicable for each individual item. Please refer to this catalogue, the bid sheet, or the individual donation form in the auction area, for any limitations and/or any other information. The OMCA Silent Auction does not warrant the quality, value, or restrictions on the items or services auctioned, all items are sold in “as is” condition. If any item is purchased at the auction and subsequently the donor ceases to do business, OMCA and its representatives will not be held liable or responsible for any loss, damage or inconvenience caused to the purchaser. Despite our best efforts to obtain and publish garment size information, in some cases this information is not available from donors prior to the event. Estimated retail values are provided by donors and rounded to the nearest $5 increment. By purchasing an auction item, the buyer waives any claims for liability against OMCA and its representatives and the donor of the property or service. Values are not warranted for tax purposes or as an indication of market value. In the event of any discrepancy regarding any matter pertaining to the Silent Auction, the decision of Ms. Sue LeClair, Chairperson of the Silent Auction, will be final and binding. All other standard auction rules will apply.

Payments & Item Pick-Up

Payments will be accepted from 7:00am to 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 12th in the Silent Auction area. Payment in full for all purchases is required on-site. If you have a winning bid and are scheduled to leave the conference prior to Wednesday, November 12th (pick-up day), you will be notified by OMCA after the conference regarding payment and shipping. MINIMUM BID INCREMENTS – RULES IN DETAIL

The minimum bid increment is often forgotten in times of intense bidding, but it can be the determining factor in whether you win or lose the item you’re after. To avoid losing due to a bid increment mistake, make sure you pay attention to the bid increment value stated in the top right of the silent auction form. For example:

Case 1 - Bill's High Bid Wins! Case 2 - Bill's High Bid Loses!

1) The auction begins. 1) The auction begins. 2) Fred bids $100. 2) Fred bids $100. 3) Bill bids $105. 3) Bill bids $102. 4) The auction ends. 4) The auction ends. BILL WINS the auction since his $105 BILL LOOSES! His higher bid of $102 beats $100, and he has followed the does NOT win this item. He didn't bid increment rule labeled on the meet the minimum bid increment of auction form ($5 in this case). $5, so his bid is not valid.

The incremental amount is predetermined based on the value of the item up for auction. The following table shows the amount of bid increments.
