2015 marks a very significant anniversary for Agribition’s First Nations Pavilion. It has been five years since the pavilion was created to showcase First Nations culture and practices. This cross cultural exchange educates and entertains visitors from around the world. The First Nations Pavilion features a variety of informative, artistic and interactive displays, including: • World Champion hoop dancer • World-class drummers and champion dancers • Mini Tipi Encampment – each tipi will include its own inter- active activity • Contemporary and traditional craft-making including paint- ing and bead work • Elders stations where traditional stories about the importance of animals and other aspects of native culture are shared • Language stations where visitors learn a little about the diver- sity and elegance of First Nations language “The pavilion is an important tool to create a dialogue be- tween older and younger generations and First Nations and non-First Nations peoples,” says Canadian Western Agribition Board Member and First Nations Pavilion Team Leader, Court- ney MacDougall. “The pavilion is a meeting place for everyone to engage with each other and gain a deeper understanding of First Nation culture.”

Morsky Roselea Belgians, a division of the Morsky Group, is excited to share their horses with you on Saturday, November 28 at 12:00 PM in the Brandt Centre. The afternoon will begin with a Draft Horse demonstration entitled “History and Horse Power” and will showcase the majestic animals that helped build our nation. Before the invention of steam engines, these gentle giants were used for everything from farming to roadbuilding to transportation. Without them, the only option was manual labour. The demonstration opens with the grooming and harnessing of two Belgian horses. A majestic four-horse hitch demonstrating the freight-moving capacity will follow. Demonstrating one of the many ways a draft horse was used for daily transportation is our third event, the single cart. Next, two 2,000 pound Belgians will compete in an exciting horse pull display to show how powerful these beasts are. An old fashion farming demonstration will wrap up the afternoon show. The history of the draft horse is slowly disappearing and this is one way to keep the memory alive. It is also a wonderful way to show our gratitude to the men and women who built our fine nation. Following the show you are invited to the barns to meet the horses and visit with our crew.

The Morsky display is set up in the Ag-Ex.
