Some of the activities include: Blood Donation Camp, Blood Stem Donation awareness session, Support in medical camps to poor and rural patients, Beach cleanup programme, and afforestation programmes with 900 samplings. Academic support – VII to X students, Training in Photoshop Software to school students, Swami Vivekananda run 2K & 5K Program, Literary and Cultural competitions to students , Quiz competitions to school children, Soft Skills on Microsoft word to school children and Career Guidance Workshop to school children. The criterion allows recognitions received and we have uploaded several recognition letters, letters of appreciation and certificate of gratitude for the extension activities conducted. The DVV did not consider the uploaded proofs though the criteria allow recognitions received also. We humbly submit that all the extension activities may not carry awards. The consolidated proofs are once again uploaded for your kind consideration and perusal. We request you to review the evaluation and the grade given for 3.6.2 in view of the above.     Training Programme on Post Disaster Needs Assessment Venue: NIDM Southern Campus, APHRDI, Bapatla Andhra Pradesh Report NIDM conducted the programme on Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) at its Southern Campus on May 1-3, 2019 at its campus housed at APHRDI Bapatla Andhra Pradesh. About 81 participants (List attached) from various line departments such as Revenue, Agriculture, PWD, PHED, Horticulture, Local Government and Education and states of Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Kerala, Odisha and Karnataka attended the programme. Programme Objectives The programme has been designed with the objective to sensitize officials about the new PDNA tools and the engage them in the process of computing. Programme details At the outset, Dr. ISN Raju, Sr. Project Manager CSD, APHRDI welcomed the participants and gave a brief about the Institute and also its association with NIDM. Then Shri Shekher Chaturvedi, Asstt. Prof. NIDM welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He then briefed the participants about the contents to be covered during the programme. He said that NIDM, jointly with Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre, Bangkok, has developed customized scientific PDNA tools for the assessment of the impact of disasters under the World Bank assisted National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project. He also explained the objectives of the programme. Shri Ram Murthy, Project (DM), APHRDI in his address explained the hazards prevalent in Andhra Pradesh and shared his experiences of encountering disasters during his tenure as Engineer-in-Chief for Government of Andhra Pradesh. The concept of sanitation connotes a comprehensive definition, which includes liquid and solid waste disposal, food hygiene, personal, domestic and environmental hygiene. In this research I found that 92.5 per cent of respondents are agriculturists, The average income earned by respondent’s family is Rs. 39,075/- The average annual expenditure by the respondents family is Rs. 34,616/- The average debt of the respondent’s family is Rs. 18,202/- In this research shows the poor level of drainage system and roads in the villages. 59.2 per cent are using open field for toilet purposes. Majority of the respondents felt that there are mosquito problem in their area. A large majority of the respondents feeling environment around them is neat and clean, which is an indicator of health in the society. PRADESH 1:9?~ AMRA VATHI STUPA The motif presented on the cover page repre­ smts a model of the world famous Buddhist Stupa at Amravathi, 35 Kms. away from Guntur Town. In the hoary past, next to the vedic religion, Buddhism cOlllmanded a large following. In Buddhist pilgrim centres the trisarana mantra viz. "Budham saranalll gachchami, Dharmam saranam gachchami, Sangham saranam gachchami" will resound every­ where. A Stupa is a tomb erected by Buddhists orer the relics of Buddha or Buddhist sages. After the Nir­ yana (death) of Lard Budha, his remains were buried in eight places of which AlIlral'athi is supposed to be one. History says that, this was the act of Emperor Ashoka who wanted to have Stupas throughout the length and breadth of India and abroad. Thus the original Stupa of Amravathi can be dated to the 3rd century B.C. Important stupas in Andhra are all the banks of great rivers and of them Amral'athi leads as it claims the addit ion of a Universit y in those days with internat ional fame, where students from China, Japan, Tibet, Siam (Thailand) and Ceylone (Sri Lanka) were gh'en educat ion for social and spiritual enligtenment. The original stupa no longer exists.
