CONFERENCE ACCOLADES Six members of the top-ranked Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team combined to capture a conference-high nine spots on the All-Big 12 Gymnastics team. Seniors Anastasia Webb (AA, VT, BB, FX), Evy Schoepfer (VT) and Karrie Thomas (BB), sophomore Ragan Smith (FX) and freshmen Audrey Davis (UB) and Katherine LeVasseur (UB) all earned awards. This season marks the 14th straight year that the Sooners have led the conference in All-Big 12 selections and the 12th consecutive season that the Sooners have earned at least eight spots on the All-Big 12 team. Webb brought her career total to 9 honors and finished her career being honored three times on floor and beam, twice on vault and one in the all-around. Smith earned her third career honor after being recognized on bars and beam in 2020. Davis, LeVasseur, Schoepfer and Thomas all earned their first career accolades.

THEY’RE GOING BACK TO BACK When Anastasia Webb and Evy Schoepfer earned back-to-back perfect 10s on vault on March 7, they joined an elite club. The duo were just the third pair to earn back-to-back perfect scores and the first since 2018. This is the second time Webb has been a part of back-to-back perfect 10s. In 2018, Webb earned a perfect 10 on and was followed by a perfect score from Maggie Nichols. McKenzie Wofford and Nicole Lehrmann went back-to-back on on Feb. 26, 2017. Ironically, the meet was also against TWU in Denton and led the Sooners to a 49.700 on the event. The pair were the first in program history to achieve the feat.

REMEMBER THE NAME Freshman Audrey Davis has been an unstoppable force on the uneven bars since joining the Sooners this season. Davis has won the event title in five meets. She has also tallied a 9.9 or higher in six meets, including four where she reached her career high of 9.95. Davis ended the regular season ranked fourth in the nation on the event. On Feb. 13, she added even more to her resume by debuting an upgraded vault. Davis performed a Yurchenko 1.5 for the first time, earning a career-high 9.925 as she stuck her vault to lead the Sooners to a 49.750 in the rotation. Two weeks later, Davis won her first vault title of the season as she notched a 9.95 on her 1.5. A three-event athlete, Davis has also competed beam in all but two meets this season. After changing her routine after week four, Davis earned a career-high 9.95 on the event.

A LEAGUE OF HER OWN Head coach K.J. Kindler is in a league of her own in 2021. With the retirement of long-time UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field at the end of the 2019 season, Kindler is now the only active head coach to win a national championship. Kindler is still the only coach in NCAA history to take two different programs to the NCAA Finals (Iowa State, 2006; Oklahoma, nine times).

BEST OF THE BEST Head coach K.J. Kindler reached a career milestone on Feb. 13 as she earned her 400th win as the head coach at Oklahoma. In that time, she has lead the Sooners to 11 Big 12 Championships, four National Championships and three perfect seasons. This isn’t the only milestone Kindler is celebrating in 2021. On Feb. 26, Kindler tallied three wins in a quad meet to bring her to 500 career wins. Prior to Oklahoma, Kindler tallied 94 wins as the head coach at Iowa State (2001-2006). Kindler’s career wins rank sixth all-time in NCAA history and second amongst current head coaches. Michigan’s Bev Plocki has nearly 800 wins in her 31 year career at the helm of the program.

FRESH FACES • For the 2021 season, the Sooners have added an incredible freshman class with all bringing extensive experience at the national, regional and state levels.

•Audrey Davis, Julianne Fehring, Danae Fletcher, Bell Johnson, Kat LeVasseur, Audrey Lynn, Sheridan Ramsey, Quinn Smith and Meilin Sullivan make up the largest freshman class under head coach K.J. Kindler.

WHO’S NEXT When former Sooner Brenna Dowell earned a perfect 10 on bars in 2015, she became the first freshman in program history to secure a perfect score. Over the last four seasons, three more Sooners have joined that list as Maggie Nichols, Anastasia Webb and Olivia Trautman all earned a perfect score in their freshman season. Each earned their first 10.0 on a different apparatus with Dowell on bars, Nichols on vault, Webb on beam and Trautman on floor. Nichols was the first freshman and gymnast in OU history to earn a “Gym Slam”, earning a perfect score on all four events. In 2020, Ragan Smith came close to joining the exclusive group as she earned a 9.975 on beam at TWU. here are freshmen with potential to score a perfect 10 in 2021 as Katherine LeVasseur and Audrey Davis have both reached high scores of 9.95 this season on bars.
