NPL and other impaired loans Eight months of deals
22 July 2019 - EdiBeez srl – operative office - Corso Venezia, 8 - 20121 Milan - registered office Corso Italia, 22 - 20122 Milan - Italy 1 We have reached almost 23 billion euros in transactions on the Italian NPEs market since the beginning of the year, with as many as 7 billion euros in deals announced between the end of July and the beginning of August, while at least other 44 billion euros are coming in the year. The figure emerges from the BeBeez database, which processes public data, and follows the 101 billion euros gross value of transactions announced in 2018 (see here the Report Npl 2018 by BeBeez).
Among the most active banks in the disposals of recent weeks was Montepaschi, which sold UTPs for 455 million euros (Papa2 portfolio) to Cerberus and 700 million euros in NPEs to Illimity, divided into a portfolio of secured and unsecured agricultural bad loans worth 240 millions and a portfolio of Transactions unsecured corporate UTPs of 450 million. Unicredit has also sold 1.1 billion euros of announced unsecured bad loans towards SMEs to SPF Investment Management, while it is working on on NPEs the sale of another billion euros of UTPs (Project Dawn). portfolios Among the most important transactions announced in the period January-August 2019 there have reached are the 7.4 billion euros securitization of the ACE portfolio of Banco Bpm, under the 23 billion euro agreement with Credito Fondiario and the Elliott fund; and the 3 billion euros of UTPs that since the beginning Intesa Sanpaolo is selling to Prelios under the agreement that will also assign to the servicer of the year 6.7 billion euros of UTPs under management.
With regard to the expected transactions, on the other hand, the lion's share is made up of the 13.3 billion euros of Utp that Unicredit has decided to put on the market as part of an agreement that provides both the sale of part of this portfolio and the granting of a management mandate, along the lines of the agreement between Intesa Sanpaolo and Prelio. In this case, BeBeez assumed that half of the portfolio will be sold and half will be given under management. In the count of incoming transactions there are then about 7 billion euros of UTPs that MPS could yield to SGA, while there are still on the market about 6 billion euros of very old Italian bad loans in the portfolio of Credit Agricole.
