Prince Joachim of Denmark 1 Zum zweiten Mal seit der Gründung der Internationalen Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Hymnologie im Jahre 1959 findet eine der zweijährlichen Konferenzen der IAH in Dänemark statt. Ihr diesjähriges Thema Kirchengesang und Hymnologie in Zeiten der Transformation Hymnody and Hymnology in Times of Transformation spiegelt das Jubiläum der Reformation wider. Als Schirmherr dieser Konferenz begrüße ich deren Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer in Dänemark sehr herzlich. Es ist meine Hoffnung, dass Sie alle von dem reichhaltigen Programm der Konferenz profitieren. Des Weiteren hoffe ich, dass sie die Konferenz und ihren Besuch in einem Teil unseres Landes, der meiner Familie und mir besonders am Herzen liegt, genießen. Joachim Prinz zu Dänemark Schirmherr des Tagungs For the second time since the foundation of the Internationale Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Hymnologie in 1959, one of the bi-annual conferences of the IAH take place in Danmark, with a theme that reflects the jubilee of the Reformation: Kirchengesang und Hymnologie in Zeiten der Transformation Hymnody and Hymnology in Times of Transformation. As Patron of this conference I heartily welcome its participants to Denmark. Hansen Introduction Although Denmark is a relatively small nation, it has made and continues to make, sig­ nificant contributions to phycology. Lyngbye, Kolderup Rosenvinge and B0rgesen were Danish phycologists who are still known to almost every algal taxonomist. The history of these people and their work is fascinating. Leafing through 'Tentamen Hydrophytologiae Danicae', which was the most important work of Lyngbye and which was published in r8r9, one is impressed by his thoroughness and clarity. In studying his manuscripts in which the illustrations have been coloured by hand, his specimens in small envelopes, and the diaries of his travels, written in neat almost microscopic handwriting, one is able to follow his thoughts almost as if he were alive today. This shows us that outstanding observations do not need sophisticated instruments, but may equally be the product of a keen eye and an enquiring mind.   • Porvoo Prayer Diary 2021
    PORVOO PRAYER DIARY 2021 The Porvoo Declaration commits the churches which have signed it ‘to share a common life’ and ‘to pray for and with one another’. An important way of doing this is to pray through the year for the Porvoo churches and their Dioceses. The Prayer Diary is a list of Porvoo Communion Dioceses or churches covering each Sunday of the year, mindful of the many calls upon compilers of intercessions, and the environmental and production costs of printing a more elaborate list. Those using the calendar are invited to choose one day each week on which they will pray for the Porvoo churches. It is hoped that individuals and parishes, cathedrals and religious orders will make use of the Calendar in their own cycle of prayer week by week. In addition to the churches which have approved the Porvoo Declaration, we continue to pray for churches with observer status. Observers attend all the meetings held under the Agreement. The Calendar may be freely copied or emailed for wider circulation. The Prayer Diary is updated once a year.
