Niamh takes top honours in youth music awards

LOCAL teenager Niamh Crowther has been awarded the overall prize in the recent Irish Youth Music Awards held in last month. A student of Ratoath School of Music, Niamh is a songwriter and singer and also plays the piano and guitar. The Irish Youth Music Awards are sponsored by IMRO, magazine and Garageland. Niamh's prize is €10,000 worth of recording time. She will be launching a new album this autumn, and will feature in an article in Hot Press. The Irish Youth Music Awards is an educational programme for young people aimed at providing first contact work experience in a variety of subjects associated with the music business. The initiative brings together some of Ireland's top music industry personnel directly into contact with young musicians.
