NOTICE OF INTENT NORTH SOMERST COUNCIL (FLAX BOURTON) (VARIOUS ROADS) (20MPH SPEED LIMIT) (30MPH SPEED LIMIT) (40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2018

Notice is HEREBY GIVEN that District Council proposes to make an Order under sections 81, 82, 83 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to: -

1. Restrict any vehicle from exceeding 20 miles per hour on lengths of the roads specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice

2. Restrict any vehicle from exceeding 30 miles per hour on lengths of the roads specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice

3. Restrict any vehicle from exceeding 40 miles per hour on lengths of the roads specified in Schedule 3 to this Notice

4. Revoke the County of Somerset (Restricted Roads) (Flax Bourton) (No.1) Order 1961, in its entirety.

Full details of the proposals are contained in the draft Order which together with maps, Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Order and copies of the Order to be revoked may be inspected at the following locations:

The Council of North Somerset (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) in exercise of its powers under Sections 81, 82, 83 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended (hereinafter referred to as “the Act of 1984”) and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act of 1984, hereby makes the following Order:-

1. This Order shall come into operation on the **th ***** 2018 and may be cited as the North Somerset Council (Flax Bourton) (Various Roads) (20mph speed limit) (30mph speed limit) (40mph Speed limit) Order 2018.

2. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 of this Order.

3. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 of this Order.

4. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 3 of this Order.

5. No speed limit imposed by this order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3 (4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations when used in accordance with regulation 3 (5) of those regulations.

6. The County of Somerset (Flax Bourton, Various Roads, district of Woodspring) (Restricted Roads) (De-Restriction) Order 1961 is hereby revoked Given under the COMMON SEAL of North Somerset District Council on the **th day of **** 2018

STATEMENT OF REASONS NORTH SOMERSET COUNCIL (FLAX BOURTON) (VARIOUS ROADS) (20MPH SPEED LIMIT) (30MPH SPEED LIMIT) (40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2018

North Somerset Council is proposing to introduce 20mph, 30mph and 40mph speed limits on various roads in Flax Bourton. This is to help control traffic speeds in the vicinity of the primary school This order is intended to avoid danger to persons or traffic using the road, improve the amenities of the area, and facilitate the passage of pedestrians.
