Live baiting hooks the kingfish

This week’s fishing has been very exciting, with anglers experienced and rookie doing very well. Kingfish, kahawai, snapper and dory have all been on the menu. After our rather nasty storm the fish Snag! seem to be holding closer to land or rocky areas. The shallows, around four-10 metres have produced some truly fantastic fish. Areas such as Eastern Beach, Bucklands Beach and Browns Island are holding lots of snapper and kahawai. The bottom end of Waiheke Island has also been putting on quite a show when it comes to the fishing scene, with Kauri Point Keen angler and Gannett Rock both producing dory and James Kellow some wicked kingfish fights. lands the big one. Soft baiting is still high on the list of SUPPLIED tactics at the moment, so make sure you have the key colours in your tackle box. Live baiting is still the best way to land those kingys, although the new stick baits are a fun and proactive way to lure them to bite. The top baits are bullet tuna, squid and pilchards. So, until next week... Tight Lines!

Let’s bin the bag!

Say goodbye to rubbish bags because there’s a new rubbish bin service coming to you in September.*

We’ll be providing each household with a 120L rubbish bin, so you no longer have to buy black rubbish bags. If you need a larger bin size a 240L one is available, but it will come with an additional cost of approximately $55** per year.

Renters: please note that landlords will have to apply for a larger bin as the charge will go on their rates bill.

To request a larger bin please contact us before 31 March 2017 at makethemostofwaste.co.nz or 09 928 0934.

*Please note that this change only applies to the former Manukau City Council Area.
