On behalf of the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), welcome to the North West and North Wales Employment Bulletin, which will provide you with the latest jobs and business news from across the region and highlights a selection of the latest regional vacancies on our job site, RightJob.

This region covers a large geographical area including, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, North Wales and Isle of Man.

‘Ambitious’ retail led development to create 4,500 Lancashire jobs

Plans have been revealed for a retail-led development in Lancashire that could create thousands of employment opportunities. The scheme, located on a strategic site at the start of the M65 motorway in Cuerden, would deliver 4,500 new jobs and 861,000 sq ft of industrial space. Read more

£10m logistics hub to bring 100 jobs - Opening in August 2017

International logistics company GEFCO UK has announced a £10m investment with a new purpose-built facility in south Liverpool which will create around 100 new jobs. The new logistics hub will provide logistics and supply chain services and help optimise supply chains for GEFCO’s customers. Read more

£12m Aurora starting to take shape

Work on Stockport’s newest industrial park has reached a major milestone as the steelwork starts going up. When completed next year, a modern, and thriving 145,000sq feet industrial park alongside Junction 1 of the M60 comprising 10 light industrial units will have been created. Aurora Stockport will meet this need and see new jobs and opportunities created for residents as businesses move into the industrial park. Read more

Work begins on flagship LFC Store set to open early in the 2017/18

Work on Liverpool FC’s flagship Anfield Stadium store starts shortly, with contractors arriving on site to begin construction on the two- storey development. The flagship store will create around 60 permanent and casual roles. Read more

A global developer and manufacturer of coding and marking technologies is celebrating the expansion of its fluids operation with a ground-breaking ceremony on the site of its new state-of-the-art factory on the Senate Business Park in Bootle on Merseyside. The building work is now underway, with completion scheduled for mid- 2017. Domino currently employs 75 staff in Bootle. The new project

will not only safeguard the current workforce but is anticipated to

create new jobs when fully operational. Read more

£10m Lidl deal boosts Accrol Lancashire toilet roll company Accrol Group Holdings has confirmed a £10m contract with Lidl as it reports strong trading. In September, the company announced that it is to open a new manufacturing plant in Leyland, creating 80 jobs and increasing total capacity to 143,000 tonnes a year. The 168,000 sq ft plant will start production in January. Read more

Indian drugs firm to create up to 50 jobs in Wrexham

An Indian pharmaceutical company has announced it is creating up to 50 jobs in Wrexham in a £10m investment. The multi-million pound investment will see a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility installed at the Wrexham site – due to open in December 2016. Wockhardt already employs 380 people in Wrexham and the new facility will provide an extra 40-50 jobs. Read more

Stealth fighter jet deal to secure and create hundreds of North Wales jobs

A stealth fighter jet deal will secure and create hundreds of jobs in MOD Sealand in , North Wales. The MOD revealed that over the lifetime of the programme, hundreds of European-based F-35 aircraft will be serviced and maintained in North Wales. Read more

NATS Holdings, formerly National Air Traffic Services, is currently recruiting for Trainee Air Traffic Controllers. People come to this career from all kinds of backgrounds. So while you may have knowledge or experience of aviation, it’s by no means essential. It’s the kind of job in which your attitude and aptitude is far more important than your specific background. Plans in for £60m retail and leisure complex in Rochdale

A detailed planning application for the proposed £60m retail and leisure complex in Rochdale has been submitted. If approved, the scheme will be anchored by a 22,000 sq ft Next and 50,000 sq ft M&S, while leisure operator Reel Cinemas has signed up to run the cinema.

It’s a unique mix of retail and leisure which will create 1,000 new jobs and boost the local economy. Demolition works are already underway, with construction works scheduled to begin in late Summer 2017. Read more

The business has a partnership with Princess Trust, Furness College running 4 Movement Back to Work Schemes each year. The scheme is for 18-25 year old, and would be ideal for the majority of Service leavers, particularly as 60% are early Service leavers. Those Service leavers moving back to Barrow in Furness area can apply for the scheme through the Job Centre Plus Centre in Barrow in Furness.

The course is for 6 weeks, where the successful applicants will attend Furness College, before attending a work placement with BAE Systems. Those who are successful will be offered an Apprenticeship (Post GCSE) with BAE Systems.
