1. India and Switzerland Sign ‘Joint Declaration’ for Automatic Exchange of Information
Mr. Sushil Chandra, Chairman, CBDT signed the‘Joint Declaration’ on behalf of India while Mr. Gilles Roduit, Deputy Chief of Mission of Swiss Embassy in India, signed on behalf of Switzerland, for the implementation of Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) between India and Switzerland.
As a result, it will now be possible for India to receive from September, 2019 onwards, the financial information of accounts held by Indian residents in Switzerland for 2018 and subsequent years, on an automatic basis.

2. Sangai Festival 2016 kicks off in Manipur
With an aim to promote Manipur as a potential tourist destination, the annual Manipur Sangai Festival this year will be themed ‘Destination Manipur’.
The 10-day-festival seeks to showcase the best of what the state has to offer in terms of art, culture, handloom, handicrafts as well as fine arts.

3. 13th World Robot Olympiad in India for the first time
The 13th World Robot Olympiad will be held in India for the first time, with over 2,000 students from 54 countries participating.
This year's theme is 'Rap the Scrap' is in line with 'Swachh Bharat Mission' of the government.
4. Lenovo partners with Paytm for cashless purchases
Chinese technology company Lenovo has partnered with Paytm to ensure hassle-free cashless transactions that will benefit laptop buyers who are facing cash crunch after demonetisation.
Lenovo has also collaborated with Pine Labs to allow smooth conversion of transactions into EMI.
5. Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu re-elected as President of ICAO Council
Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu of Nigeria was re-elected by acclamation today for a second three-year term as President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Dr. Aliu first assumed the office of ICAO Council President on 1 January 2014, having been elected by acclamation by the ICAO Council following the completion of the mandate of the previous President, Mr. Roberto Kobeh González.

6. Akshaya Mukul Wins Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize
The Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize 2016 has been awarded to senior journalist at the Times of India, Akshaya Mukul for his book ‘Gita Press and the Making of Hindu India’.
Mukul also won the best non-fiction book prize for Gita Press and the Making of Hindu India at the Ramnath Goenka awards, where he boycotted the event because the awards were distributed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
7. Veteran Congress leader Ram Naresh Yadav passes away
Veteran Congress leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ram Naresh Yadav passed away at SGPGI Lucknow after a prolonged illness.
The 89-year-old was a four-time MLA, a member of the Rajya Sabha and the former Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
8. Renowned Hindi & Bhojpuri writer Dr. Viveki Rai passes away
Renowned Hindi and Bhojpuri litterateur Dr Viveki Rai passed away in a Varanasi hospital after illness.
92-year- old Dr Rai was born in 1924 in Ballia district of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
He wrote about fifty books of stories, essays and novels. His novel Sonamati recognized as one of his best literary work.
9. Veteran Carnatic singer M Balamuralikrishna passes away
Singer-composer Mangalamapalli Balamuralikrishna, who caught the nation’s attention in Doordarshan’s iconic music video ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ in the eighties, passed away in Chennai. He was 86.
Balamuralikrishna was awarded France government’s Order of Arts and Letters. He was instrumental for near about four decades.
10. M G K Menon passes away
Renowned scientist Mambillikalathil Govind Kumar Menon, who spearheaded many scientific and development missions passed away. He was 88.
Menon became the director of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai in 1966 at the age of 38. He also headed the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)for nine months in 1972.
