PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I am happy to report that SUNTRAPEX was a great success and It looks as if each of our groups will make about a hundred dollars for our bank account. That should make Len Eichorn happy. Our members came through with exhibits and did well. Bill Smith- ette won the Best in Section (SPI Trophy) for "A Postal History of 12 Olympiads." The Gold went to Sherwin Podolsky for "Postal History of the " - the Silver to Joe Lacko for "Soccer in Postal History" - and the Bronze to CA. Reiss for "Competitive Boating." The Court of Honor showed the outstanding "Host Countries of the Olympic Games", which belongs to Helen Long. My heartfelt thanks to our other members who helped us make such a good showing: Tony Quinn, Larry Moriarity, Edwin Parrasch and Joe Kartuem. Some Helped work and without them we would have been lost. Helen Long and Hal Wasserman were the Judges - Nancy ran the snack bar and we still made money. (ED. NOTE: I left out Hal Wasserman's name in the above list of helpers at the show.) My two days were spent in tears. There was a wet spot in front of Bill Smithette's collections as well as one in front of Joe's and Tony's soccer collections. How come they have cancels I have been looking for over ten years. My husband took pictures of those I am missing and he will probably find them and sell them to me-with my luck. By the way, I will be in Atlantic City, for SOJEX, in April and In Miami for the A.P.S. Convention later that month. I expect to hcfld our usual get-together off the Boardwalk in Atlantic City - so put^lt on your calendar and I'll see you there. Also - I am a commissioner to the International Exhibition in Mexico City next fall. Let me know if you want an entry blank. I'll send you one when I get them. mm m*Rmr*mw%r nAllflf E Bourse rates are 2c per word with name n^ClwlDtKJ D^^wlC-y^E ar|d oddress free Send ad and remit tance to the editor. RULES FOR SELLERS: 1. Only SPI members in good standing are eligible to submit material for listing and sale. 2. All material submitted shall be properly classified by the seller following a standard format. Stamp lots shall include the catalog numbers (Scott), catalog values, mint or used, and accurate description of condition (any defects shall be noted). Cover lots shall include a brief description of slogans, special cancels, cachets, backstamps, etc., and condition of the cover. The auction manager reserves the right to modify stated condition when necessary. 3. The owner of each lot shall be clearly identified by the seller with his name, ad dress, and SPI membership number. 4. A 20% commission will be deducted from the sale price of each lot sold. There are no fees charged for unsold lots. 5. The auction manager, at his discretion, reserves the right to reject any material sub mitted for sale. 6. Payment for lots sold will be made and unsold material will be returned to seller within 30 days following the closing date of the sale.

TERMS OF SALE: 1. All lots are sold to the highest bidder at a slight advance over the second highest bid. The right is reserved to withdraw any lot prior to the sale. Mailing and insurance charges are payable by the purchaser. 2. Terms of sale are cash and all lots must be paid for within four days of receipt. 3. Bidders who are not members of SPI will be notified of lots purchased and must remit before the lots are sent. 4. Should a claim for error of description arise, such claim should be made within three days of receipt of lot. Claims made after that time cannot be considered. Lots de scribed as collections, mixtures, etc. are not returnable under any circumstances. 5. No charges are made for executing bids. SPI is not responsible for bidder errors or omissions. 6. SPI reserves the right to reject any bid believed not to have been made in good faith. Any bid not commensurate with the value of the offering may be rejected. 7. On identical bids the earlier postmark will govern. 8. The placing of a bid shall constitute full acceptance of the foregoing terms.
