Flipboard Tutorial

Flipboard is a free download from the App Store, to add to your iPad, iPhone, or desktop.

To create an account, you must download the Flipboard app. Flipboard does not support account creation on the web at this time. You can login via Facebook.

Download the app at the App Store, Google Play, or BlackBerry World. You can also download the app for Windows 8. Follow the prompts to set up your account.

I find adding sites and arranging the Flipboard easiest on the desktop.

On your desktop, visit https://editor.flipboard.com

CREATE YOUR MAGAZINE

Click the Create Magazine icon and complete the information required.

Notice you can make your magazine private if you wish (you can change this later). You will not have the Share icon (mentioned later) if you choose to make your Flipboard private.

Click Save.

The easiest way to add content is to use the Flipboard Bookmarklet tool, available for Chrome and FireFox.

ADD THE FLIPBOARD EXTENSION or BOOKMARKLET

Make sure your bookmark toolbar is showing.

Chrome: Click the Customize icon, select Bookmarks, Show Bookmarks.

FireFox: Right click in the Menu area, click the Bookmarks Toolbar.

Click SHARE at the top of the page.

 In Chrome, click “Looking for the Bookmarklet”. From the new window drag the FlipIt button to your bookmark toolbar.  In Mozilla, just drag the bookmarklet to your bookmark toolbar.

Alternatively, you can go to https://share.flipboard.com/ to get the extension or bookmarklet.

ADD CONTENT TO YOUR FLIPBOARD

Navigate to the site you wish to “Flip”.

Click your Flip It bookmarklet.

In the window that opens, select the Flipboard to which you wish to add the site.

Click Add. Easy, right?

Add the sites, YouTube videos, etc. you wish to include.

Open your https://editor.flipboard.com/ site and click the Flipboard to open.

Decide which site/page will be your Flipboard cover and click the “Set as Cover” icon. Here you can also delete and rearrange pages.

SHARE YOUR FLIPBOARD

If your Flipboard is closed the Share Magazine icon will display. To get the link to your Flipboard, click Email to send the link to yourself.

Note: You can change your email address in your Profile.

You can also share on Facebook or Twitter.

If your Flipboard is open, the Share icon will display at the top of the page next to the title of your FlipBoard.
