Table 3-1 • Component Overview

Component Description

Application Recognition Service The Application Recognition Service or FlexNet Manager Suite On Premises identifies applications by Flexera ID and generates a normalized and consolidated application list that contains:

• License information

• Usage information

• Upgrade availability

The normalized application list is sent to Rationalization Manager.

AdminStudio You can test applications with AdminStudio for operating system compatibility and best practices, and those test results will be displayed in Rationalization Manager to help you make decisions.

Rationalization Manager You use Rationalization Manager to review the normalized application list and assign each application into a category.

As part of this review , you need to create and apply an exclusion list that lists applications that you do not want to include in your project, such as (if you are performing an application migration) applications that will already be available on the target system.

From a consolidated list of applications, you can launch workflows to deploy approved applications to a new environment.

For more information on the components of AdminStudio Inventory and Rationalization, see the Getting Started section of the AdminStudio Inventory and Rationalization User Guide / Online Help.
