PROGRAMME FOR THE 24TH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP JUNIOR SHORE ANGLING 2015 U16 15TH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP JUNIOR SHORE ANGLING 2015 U21 IN

Dear angling friends,

It is our great pleasure to invite you, on behalf of Sportvisserij Nederland, to participate in the:

24th World Championship Junior Shore Angling U16 and 15th World Championship Junior Shore Angling U21, which will be held on the beautiful coast of , the , from 16-23 October 2015.

We are very honoured that C.I.P.S and FIPS/M have awarded these world championships to the Netherlands and placed their trust in , giving the province the opportunity to offer hospitality to the best junior shore anglers in the world.

The Netherlands and the province of Zeeland in particular are characterised by a lot of, mostly salty, water and the opportunities for shore angling are as good as endless. Zeeland is a province with a rich culture in terms of shipping, recreation and (competitive) angling and we would like to invite you to come and enjoy this too.

We hope that both these world championships will be held in a sporting and competitive atmosphere and that a lot of cooperation and friendship will develop between the competitors, volunteers and visitors.

We are confident that besides the competitive fishing, there will also be time to form lasting friendships.

A warm welcome to Zeeland.

Menno Knip Chairman WELCOME TO ZEELAND

The province of Zeeland, with its 600 or so kilometres of very varied coastline has plenty to offer for shore anglers and other beach lovers. Spending time on these beaches means enjoying clean white sand and the most hours of sunshine in the Netherlands. Around 1,500,000 holiday makers come to Zeeland every year, to enjoy the sea, the old picturesque villages and the many walking and cycling routes around the province. The west and south side of Walcheren, with a sea coast of around 22 kilometres on which the villages of Domburg, Westkapelle, and are located, has beautiful sandy beaches with vast dunes behind them.

The history of Zeeland goes back eight-thousand years. The old like Aardenburg, Middelburg and , show how wealthy Zeeland once was. There is plenty to see from this time, in the form of impressive churches, beautiful merchants' homes and rich townhouses. Zeeland was an important province of the Netherlands in the 16th and 17th century and it still is today.

The majestic capital city Middelburg is steeped in rich history with its 1001 attractive monuments, imposing squares, characteristic back streets and merchants' houses with decorative gables. Middelburg has the highest number of monuments per square metre in the whole of the Netherlands and is also a beautiful backdrop for countless shops, elegant boutiques and leading speciality stores. There are lots of lovely markets in Middelburg, where there is something for everyone.

Zeeland is also a popular destination for nature lovers, thanks to the wide range of characteristic nature areas with low-lying marshy areas in which a lot of birds can be found foraging and nesting. There is also a wide variety of flowers, plants and fish. Hall Middelburg

Watersport plays an important role in recreation. There are 42 yachting harbours with around 11,000 berths from which boats can navigate across the many large lakes as well as along the coast of Zeeland. Other sports like canoeing and rowing, diving, waterskiing and of course angling are especially popular in Zeeland.

Zeeland has a lot to offer in the culinary arena with plenty of seafood products like oysters, mussels and fish served in lots of different ways by the many welcoming restaurants around Zeeland.
