Travel from Lhasa to Kathmandu with our small tour groups affords not only the numerous highlights along the Friendship Highway, but also an affordable way to see Lhasa, the Tibetan Plateau, Everest Base Camp, and finally .

Day 01 : Arrival in Lhasa [3650m]

Your Tibetan guide will greet you at the Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa railway station, and transport you to your hotel in the city. From the airport to Lhasa is 68 km (42 mi), roughly an hour drive to your hotel. The drive from the train station is only 15 km (9 mi) and takes 20 minutes. After checking into the hotel, you will have the remainder of the day to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude. Stay in Lhasa.

Day 02 : Lhasa City Sightseeing

After breakfast, visit Potala Palace, which is the best known cultural landmark in Tibet. It is most renowned as the residence of the lineage of Dalai (Avalokiteshvara), though the massive structure contains a small world within itself. It was first built by 33rd ruler of his dynasty, King Songtsen Gangpo in the 7th century, but still is in surprisingly good repair because of continual rejuvenation projects. Then visit temple, the most sacred building in , located in the heart of Lhasa old town. It is the most sought after pilgrimage destination for all Tibetans. Barkhor Street is a popular Kora (holy walking path) which surrounds the Jokhang Temple. Always full of Tibetan faithful, visitors may find mingling with local pilgrims around the Barkhor Street uniquely engaging. Stay in Lhasa. Day 03 : One Day Tour to Drepung and

Today you will be arranged to visit Drepung and Sera . Both Drepung and Sera monasteries are Gelugpa (yellow hat) monastic colleges. was the seat of the Government prior to Potala, it was once the world largest monastery in the history with 10,000 monks hailed from different monasteries all over Tibet. Sera monastery is famous for its Buddhism philosophical debate practice, the clapping sound and aggressive expression of the monks are well worth to see. Stay in Lhasa.

Day 04 : Lhasa / Yamdrok Lake [4,441m] / Gyantse [3,980m] / Shigatse [3,840m], 360KM, 7hours drive (B)

Morning drive up to Kampala pass [4794m], you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-Tso and spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar in the distance, the turquoise-colored Lake Yamdrok Yutso is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet, the unforgettable vista of pincer- shaped turquoise water of the lake and amazing spectacle of Mt. Nyenchen Khangsar glacier from Karo la pass is wonders of the day. Then along the Friendship southern Hwy drive to Gyantse, visit the famous - Gyantse Kumbum, one of the most stunning architectural wonders in Tibet. Late afternoon drive to Shigatse. Stay in Shigatse.

Day 05 : Shigatse / Shegar / Rongbuk Monastery [4900m] / E.B.C [5150m], 340KM, 7 hours' drive

Early morning start driving to Rongphu via Shegar, cross over Gyatsola [5200 m] & Gawu la pass [5250 m], from the top of the Gawu la you will see the spectacular Himalayan Ranges and its glorious peaks viz Mt. Makalu [8,463 m], Mt.Lotse [8,516 m], Mt.Everest [8,844 m], Mt.Cho Oyu [8,201 m] and Mt.Shishapama [8,020 m] from Left to right, climbing down through numbers of switchback bends lead to the dry valley of Tashi Zom and then to today's destination - Everest Base Camp. Rongbuk is the highest monastery in Tibet and consists of both monks and nuns, it is a good point to see Mt.Everest. Enjoy the sunset of Mount Everest when it is a clear day. Stay in local guesthouse (dorm bed).

Day 06 : E.B.C / Old [4,250m] / Gyirong [2,800m], 370KM, 6 hours' drive

Morning enjoys the sunrise of Mount Everest when it is a clear day and have breakfast at your guesthouse. Afterward start today's drive to Gyirong Border, which is newly opened for foreign tourists to continue their overland travel to Nepal. Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes along the way including Mount Shishapangma and lake Pekutso. Stay in Gyirong.

Day 07 : Gyirong Border send off, end the travel

After breakfast, drive about 1 hour to Gyirong border and see off to your Tibetan guide. End the services at the border. Clear the custom and cross the border to Nepal side where your local Nepalese driver will send you to your hotel to Kathmandu. The drive takes about 8-9 hours due to the bad road condition.

Tips: After you cross the border and enter Nepal, you need clear customs at the Nepal Immigration office. If you don’t have your Nepalese visa you can apply at the same time, normally the fee is 35 USD for the single entry visa which is valid for 15 days, you will need to have one passport photo.

Local Tibetan guide fluent in English, Chinese or Japanese that is certified by the state tourism build. (If your native language is not listed please let us know, we are certain we can assist your needs.) Transportation will we be provided via a comfortable and clean car, minivan or tourist bus depending upon the groups size.
