4.2 General Introduction zRDP405 is a Windows® VDI /RDP-based solution that is designed specifically to help educational, enterprise and government institutions give every user individual remote access to PCs. By allowing multiple users to simultaneously share one computer—each with his or her own independent Windows experience—it’s a cost-effective way to get more technology into classrooms, computer labs, and libraries.

zRDP405 has a new generation SOC chipset named “Trigger VI”, and is an RDP base of zero clients that permanently contains system software for booting the from the network. Applications come from the server as well. This is defined as an “Ultra-thin client”. This is similar to a thin client, but there is no local storage and WOL (Wake On LAN).

Also known as Ultra-Thin client, the zRDP405 client provides the VDI RDP server based computing model in which the end user’s computing device has no local storage. A zero client can be contrasted with a thin client, which retains the operating system and each device’s specific configuration settings in . The server, which hosts the client’s OS and software applications, can be accessed wirelessly or with a cable. Ultra-thin clients are used in a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment.

A better operation experience with the following benefits:

 Power usage can be as low as of heavy client requirements.

 Devices require less power than PCs or thin clients.

 Low cost, reliable solid state hardware.

 Ideal for education, office, call centers, kiosks, computer labs, and home offices as well as small businesses and government.

 Efficient and secure means of delivering applications to end users.

Page 20

Model No. zRDP405 Document Version V1.1 Date of Release 2021.01.28

 Ethernet connection to the host server with no distance limitations.

 High security standard and easy to deployment, Simplified administration

 In a VDI environment, administrators can reduce the number of physical PCs or blades and run multiple virtual PCs on server class hardware.

 No need to install a device driver.
