MEMORANDUM FOR: UTAH WING PILOTS

FROM: UTWG/DO

SUBJECT: South Valley Regional (U42) Utah Ramp Procedure

1. The Utah Air National Guard is allowing UTWG CAP to use hanger space at South Valley Regional (U42) to store N786CP (C172). This directive applies to all pilots when operating any CAP aircraft from U42.

2. Procedure:

a. The entrance to the Guard ramp at U42 is between the office building (currently being renovated) and the large hanger. On the north wall of the large hanger, next to a locked gate, there is a box on the wall with a white button on it. Push the button then speak into it, identifying yourself. The security office is in a brown shack to your left. The security officer will approach, check your ID, and let you in.

b. Alternatively, you may drive your POV to the aircraft. Approach the automobile gate near the security shack, and call the phone number on the left side of the gate. The security of- ficer will open the gate, check your ID, and let you onto the ramp. OBSERVE ALL SAFETY ISSUES WHILE DRIVING ON THE RAMP INCLUDING A 10 MPH SPEED LIMIT. Pull the aircraft from the hanger and park your car where the aircraft was located to remain clear of Guard operations.

c. On the day of the sortie, the aircrew will contact the Guard Operations Desk at (801)816- 3613 to inform them of the times and objectives of the CAP operation. If unable to reach them by phone the aircrew shall email [email protected] with the same information.

d. Fueling:

(1) It is strongly recommended that, after each sortie, the pilot taxi the aircraft to the front of the FBO and refuel there. After fueling, taxi the aircraft to the Guard ramp. After parking the aircraft in the hanger record Hobbs and Tach.

1 (2) The only exception to (1) is if you arrive at U42 after hours and the FBO is closed (hours of operation 07:00 – 19:00). The next morning arrange for a fuel truck to en- ter the Guard ramp.

(a) Fueling will only occur on the concrete pad in front of the hanger. It shall not occur in the hanger or on the asphalt.

(b) If the CAP Fleet Card is used then it shall be taken to the FBO to pay for fuel and then returned to the aircraft.

(3) Fuel payment shall occur at the FBO.

(a) If the sortie used an A mission symbol then the CAP Fleet Card shall be used.

(b) If the sortie used a B or C mission symbol then the PIC or member of the crew must pay for the fuel with their own funds, and then submit UTWG Form 11 to UTWG/WA for reimbursement if necessary. e. Parking

(1) The CAP aircraft shall be parked in the south west corner of the open bay hanger un- less Guard Operations directs another location.

(2) The aircraft shall be locked, the key in the lockbox on the left wing.

(3) Both main wheels shall be chocked, the parking brake shall be off, and the tow bar attached to the nose landing gear. This is to allow the Guard to move the aircraft if necessary.

(4) The aircraft does not need to be tied down while in the hanger. f. Maintenance:

(1) Maintenance shall occur at a maintenance facility and not on the Guard ramp. g. Flight Operations:

(1) Before any taxi operations on the guard ramp contact Guard Ops on Unicom fre- quency 122.7 MHz and inform them of your intentions.

(2) Taxiing shall occur at normal taxi speeds.

(3) Engine run-up shall be performed in the appropriate U42 general aviation run-up ar- eas. Run-ups shall not be performed on the Guard Ramp. h. There is no Wi-Fi available in any Guard facility, but the FBO does have Wi-Fi.

2 i. Pilot's must be checked out in person at the Guard ramp by Maj Lance Helsten (UTWG/ DO), Maj Barry Albright (UTWG/DAO), Lt Col Rand Woodward (RMR/DO), Lt Col Gill Williams, or an instructor pilot who has been previously checked out.
